One 'Article' removed and the tri-colour has conquered/re-embraced....'Kashmir'.... what more 'Sickularism' ??

"Something unprecedented is happening in Kashmir today. ....People are celebrating August 15 with the fervour that used to be seen only on major festivals like Eid", - runs a message on X, earlier known as Twitter.

PM Narendra Modi sets tone for ‘next August 15’ (2024) as he counts achievements of his government in the last nine years from Red Fort ahead of 2024 polls.

"It is the commitment of my life to keep fighting against corruption. Second, dynasty politics has ruined the country. It has taken away the rights of people. And the third evil is appeasement that has left a blot of the national character. We have to fight against these three evils with full force - corruption, dynasty politics and appeasement," says PM Modi

The Bakshi stadium in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar saw a huge rush for the Independence Day celebrations. Videos showed long ques of people outside the stadium. Some people were seen waving the Tricolour at Srinagar's iconic Lal Chowk.

There were no restrictions for the citizens for the big event, officials said.

"Such a delight to see our  "Tricolor" flying beautifully at LAL CHOWK in Srinagar,  Jammu & Kashmir on the eve of Independence day," Union Minster Kiren Rijiju tweeted.

"Something unprecedented is happening in Kashmir today. I haven't seen any such thing in my life so far and none of us have. People are celebrating August 15 with the fervour that used to be seen only on major festivals like Eid. Kashmir has embraced India with pride and joy," tweeted Shaeh Faesal.

Bakshi Stadium hosted the Independence Day function after a gap of five years following a closure in 2018 for renovations.

Government employees also attended the event that was addressed by Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The administration had made it mandatory for government officials and employees to attend the Independence Day function.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor appointed by the Centre is the chief guest at these functions.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has said that the scrapping of special status of the erstwhile state and moving it to mainstream has brought about a host of positive changes over the last four years. "It was a clear message sent to people of Jammu and Kashmir" that raising questions on "unity and integrity of India won't be tolerated," he said

This is a first, in many decades, that a Congress president has attacked the government on Independence Day. Avoiding any criticism or attack on the Centre on Independence Day has so far been a convention.

A chair with Mallikarjun Kharge's name was among the vacant seats at a section of the historic Red Fort where PM Modi delivered his speech. Mr Kharge said he could not go to the Red Fort for the speech as he had an eye problem.
- says NDTV web.

He said he was also expected to hoist the flag in his own house, then go to the Congress office, and with so much security for the PM and others, and the fact that they wouldn't allow him to leave till the Home Minister, Defence Minister, Speaker, and some others did, it would have been impossible to attend.
