“From Southern part of India to the South of the Moon, this was not an easy journey”

“Now onwards, every year, 23rd August will be celebrated as the National Space Day”.

“New generation should come forward to scientifically prove the astronomical formulas in the scriptures of India and to study them anew”.

While addressing the team ISRO at ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), he also announced the place where Chandrayaan-2 left its footprint on the Lunar surface in 2019.

He said that the crash-landed site will be known as ‘Tiranga Point’.

"Shiv Shakti' point will inspire the upcoming generations to use science for the welfare of people. The welfare of people is our supreme commitment.."

Speaking about the soft landing on the moon's south pole, the prime minister added, “Our scientists built an artificial Moon at ISRO research facility to test the soft landing of the lander. The lander was bound to succeed as it passed several tests before going there (to the Moon)."

PM Modi flew down today directly to Bengaluru from the Greek capital of Athens to interact with ISRO scientists on the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission.

The Prime Minister also announced that August 23, the day the Chandrayaan-3 lander touched down on the lunar surface, would be celebrated as "National Space Day".

After a 40-day journey into space, Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully touched down on the lunar surface on 23 August wehrein the Prime Minister had joined the ISRO team at Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISTRAC virtually from Johannesburg, where he was attending the 15th BRICS Summit.

"I could not stop myself as I was not in the country, but I decided to visit Bengaluru first and meet our scientists right after visiting India," PM Modi on his arrival to the Garden City.

Modi also got emotional and said, "Today, I am feeling a different level of happiness. Such occasions are very rare, this time, I was so restless. I was in South Africa but my mind was with you," said PM Modi while expressing his joy over the Chandrayaan-3 mission's success.

The Lander Module, which includes both the lander named Vikram and the rover known as Pragyan, completed a gentle touchdown in the southern polar area of the Moon yesterday evening.

ISRO also reported that the rover had disembarked from the lander, marking a significant step as "India took a walk on the moon."

Politics etc .....

Speaking before a sizable crowd gathered at the HAL airport, the Prime Minister mentioned that due to his arrival from a distant location (Athens), he was uncertain about the exact arrival time. He communicated his request to the Governor, Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister, urging them not to undertake the effort of welcoming him. He emphasized that his intention was to swiftly pay his respects to the ISRO scientists and subsequently depart.

"So, I had requested them that when I pay a formal visit, they definitely follow protocol", Modi said, "They cooperated and I am thankful and grateful to them," he said.

Replying to PM Modi's comment, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "I fully agree with whatever the Prime Minister has said. We were supposed to go and receive him but since we had the information from the Prime Minister's Office officially, we wanted to respect it. The political game is over, now we are looking at development. Either Chief Minister or I was ready to go and receive him but since we got official communication we were not a part of it."

Before PM Modi's scheduled visit to Bengaluru to meet with ISRO scientists, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh made claims on Friday that Modi had purportedly prevented Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar from welcoming him at the HAL Airport.

Ramesh asserted that the Prime Minister exhibited annoyance towards Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for honouring the ISRO scientists ahead of his visit. He characterized Modi's decision to prevent the Chief Minister and his deputy from receiving him as an instance of, ‘petulant petty politics’.

Siddaramaiah on Thursday visited the Missions Operations Complex at (ISTRAC) and felicitated ISRO chief S Somanath and his team on the successful touchdown of the Chandrayaan-3 mission's lander on the Lunar surface.

"The government will officially honour them by organising a special programme at the Banquet hall at Vidhana Soudha. About 500 scientists from Karnataka were part of it. ISRO Chairman S Somanath and his team will be honoured," Siddaramaiah had said.
