Of course Mark Zuckerberg was wrong .... Modi's IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw rightly counters that Team Namo won 2024 polls notwithstanding Covid

"The year 2024 was a big election year around the world. All these countries, like India, had elections. The incumbents basically lost every single one.

There is some sort of a global phenomenon – whether it was because of inflation or the economic policies to deal with Covid or just how the governments dealt with Covid - seems to have had this global effect...

There was a broad decrease in trust in incumbents and maybe in these sorts of democratic institutions overall," Mark Zuckerberg told a podcaster.

The CEO of Meta was absolutely wrong about India.

"As the world’s largest democracy, India conducted the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. The people of India reaffirmed their trust in the NDA led by PM Narendra Modi's leadership.

Mr. Zuckerberg’s claim that most incumbent governments, including India in the 2024 elections, lost post-COVID is factually incorrect," said IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, a former IAS officer turned Neta.

Lauding the Modi government's efforts during the pandemic, the Minister asked the tech billionaire to uphold facts and credibility.

"From free food for 800 million, 2.2 billion free vaccines, and aid to nations worldwide during COVID, to leading India as the fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi’s decisive 3rd-term victory is a testament to good governance and public trust.

@Meta, it’s disappointing to see misinformation from Mr. Zuckerberg himself. Let’s uphold facts and credibility," he wrote on X.

In fact, leaders like Milind Deora (now with Shiv Sena-Shinde) has rightly said in June 2024 itself that the 10 years of PM Modi-led regime outlasted 6 Prime Ministers of Pakistan, 5 PMs of the UK, 4 Presidents of Sri Lanka, 3 Presidents of US.

Notably, the change in guards in Pakistan in the last decade saw six Prime Ministers assuming office. They included Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan Muslim League-N (2013-2017), Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of Pakistan Muslim League-N (2017-18), Imran Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (2018-2022), Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan Muslim League-N serving two terms, first from 2022-23 and then again becoming PM after 2024 elections.

Team Modi returned to power in Delhi creating a new record. Narendra Modi is the second Indian PM to achieve this milestone after decades since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Lotus party also dethroned veteran Naveen Patnaik in the state assembly polls in Odisha and it also won 20 Lok Sabha seats from the state.

Of course there were some very interesting headlines !

'Times of India' said:

Nothing Shines forever -- Not even Brand Modi

"The state Modi made his political home gave BJP its biggest shock" -- said ToI.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on track to secure a third term but with a reduced parliamentary majority, making it potentially difficult to push through major reform measures. -- says Germany's popular news outlet DW.

ToI also hailed Rahul Gandhi and credited him for the ultimate outcome !!  --

"Written off any number of time since 2014 - often derisively called 'Pappu' and 'Shehzade' -- Rahul Gandhi still refused to listen to party insiders who advised him to take a less combative stance (especially against Namo)".

In his piece for 'The Indian Express', columnist Pratap Bhanu Mehta wrote:
"In the absence of this result, India would have been headed towards unchecked domination of the BJP".

In deed, it will not be erroneous to suggest that Businesses and investors expect the new Modi administration to ensure political stability and policy continuity in the world's most populous country.

Yes, India is the fastest-growing major economy globally.
