There's more than what meets the eyes !!
Three new Governors appointed. One former Lt Governor made a Governor. Six Governors positions (locations/states) changed.
But only Ananda Bose has been shown the door.
Mamata Banerjee says she was “shocked and deeply concerned” and also that the reasons behind C V Ananda's departure remained unknown to her.
The milk has spilled .. who spilled it and how --- what differences does it make ? The same milk cannot be bottled back again !!
Mamata Banerjee hardly had smooth and effective relations with Governor(s) appointed by the BJP-led NA dispensation. But with Ananda Bose's exit - she says -- she was "shocked".
Of course even by his own standards - Amit Shah has hit the Trinamool leadership hard. C V Ananda Bose was handpicked by the Home Minister from Kerala but what happened (read transpired) in last few months that ultimately he was asked to put in his papers.
Grapevine has it that till the noon of March 5th (Thursday); Governor Ananda Bose was not aware of his ill health or his possible resignation. In fact, a statement had come out from the Raj (Lok) Bhavan, Kolkata that the Governor Ananda Bose will be in Darjeeling to attend the Hill Festival in Darjeeling in presence of the President Droupadi Murmu.
The BJP circles in West Bengal have been taking a line for last few months that the Governor had developed some 'weak spots' vis-a-vis the chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
The Lotus party leaders and RSS functionaries were not quite happy with the Governor rather easily giving nod to Mamata's list of appointments for a few vice chancellors and key dignitaries for various state-run universities.
At a Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) Governor Bose had referred to Mamata Banerjee as "the artistic chief minister of a poetic state.
This was like acknowledging Mamata's hyped and allegedly faked works in music, painting, and literature. Her collections of poems have been falsely glorified by the Sickular gang and media alike. (rather shamefully ...)
In February 2023, Ananda Bose had compared her to other "statesmen and politicians who were writers," such as former Czech President Václav Havel, India's second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and former UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Most of it were uncalled for and BJP leaders thought Ananda Bose even 'undermined' the prestige of the Raj (Lok) Bhavan by such utterances.
Stories spread that Trinamool had struck some deals with the Governor like the Congress party had allegedly conspired some 'shady plots' with then Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Hence, Ananda Bose was summoned and directed to tender resignation on March 5th. The timing was chosen personally by Amit Shah and understandably PM Narendra Modi had green signaled the move.
Prior to all that there were enough 'embarrassments' for the centre by the conduct of the Governor.
"A contractual employee of Raj Bhavan had lodged a complaint with the Kolkata Police alleging that she was molested by Governor CV Ananda Bose," says a BJP insider adding, whether she was "instigated" by someone or not is a different chapter altogether.
In 2023 the local body polls saw killings of at least 56 people chiefly from BJP supporters and karyakartas. The Lotus party leaders say the Governor did not on ground.
Bose, according to them, only gave a lip service and rhetoric such as - "Time for action".
In other words; Ananda Bose did not enlist/provoke any kind of 'fear' for the Trinamool dispensation.
The Union Home Ministry's assessment was -- impartial polls or even discharge of President's Rule administration under him was not possible.
Hence, the marching order !!
ends
