"Alleged Christian designs" in arrest of six Ukranians and One American mercenary is a matter of deep concern ::: “It’s necessary to unearth details"

“All constitutional and statutory requirements were observed while arresting the accused, grounds of arrest were communicated to them in writing in English as well as their vernacular language, and acknowledgement was received,” the NIA told the court.

The issue refers to the arrest of six Ukranians and  One American mercenary in connection with their alleged roles in fomenting troubles in north east and for travel to Mizoram and Myanmar.

Things are being probed at multiple levels in different states. BJP leader and Manipur CM Y Khemchand Singh has said -- "Yes, they have been arrested and the law will take its own course".

The NIA is probing the "full conspiracy, illegal entry" besides training camps, funding & links to Indian insurgent groups.

On Jan 27th this year NCB Director made an on the spot visit at Zokhawthar and interacted with key police and military officials.

One temporary checkgate along Myanmar border/Mizoram

Talking to ETV Bharat, renowned security expert and former Director General of Jammu & Kashmir Police, SP Vaid said that security agencies should conduct a thorough investigation to find out whether any organization or individuals sent them here.

“It’s necessary to unearth whether they came in a personal capacity or if some agencies sent them. We should know whether any organisation or any country sent them,” said Vaid.

The Northeast region is a sensitive region and there should be "strong monitoring of foreigners' movements".

A Naga former top cop shares the general concern.

"The Northeast has always been on the radar of vested interests. The arrest of these seven foreign nationals once again exposed the sensitivity of the region,” former Director General of Nagaland Police, Taliakum John Longkumer, also told ETV Bharat.

Another security specialist and in the know of things says: "The American and Ukranians had no business to be in Mizoram. The Protected Area Permit (PAP) is applicable in Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland and mandatory. They are either spying there (and conspiring against Indian interests) or are there for Narcotics ".

Yet anther refrain is -- "It's high time we stop this nonsense".

The arrest of American VanDyke, believed to be part of America's deep state, has stirred a hornet's nest.

Notably, VanDyke is the founder of Sons of Liberty International (SOLI), a non-profit security firm that provides training to groups fighting authoritarian regimes.

In 2019, VanDyke's SOLI flagged "Christian persecution" in India. It was reported by America's leading media outlet Fox News.

These have prompted experts to connect the dots and indicate that VanDyke could be part of the group that former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina had warned about in 2024.

One key Integrated checkgate along Bangladesh border

In Myanmar, the NIA said, they provided arms training to Ethnic Armed Groups or EAGs. These EAGs are known to support insurgent outfits operating in India's northeast. Moreover, the NIA has found that the accused brought a huge consignment of drones from Europe and delivered them to the EAGs and groups in Mizoram. The accused have been sent to 11-day NIA custody.

Two years ago, Hasina warned of an alleged plot by a 'white man' to establish a Christian state comprising parts of Myanmar and Bangladesh and possibly parts of north east India.

The contest between Church and pro-communist forces vis-a-vis north east insurgency vis-a-vis Nagaland and Manipur is too well known since 1960s.  But analysts say there have been occasions when both pro-communist and pro-church lobbies

.....  have joined hands and brought in more serious problems for India.

It was reported that last year Mizoram CM Lalduhoma had cautioned Govt of India and a few central agencies that "Ukraine war veterans" were using his state to enter Myanmar.

Modi knows : "It's time to bell the cat"

Security specialists link the activities of foreign hands into multi-layers of problems in North East.

While foreigners' involvement needs foolproof probe, there are reports that police forces in Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur are "not getting enough feedback and adequate information" from their assets in Myanmar ever since seven of these foreign nationals have been arrested.

Critics also decry 'extortion' culture and point out how multiple "Naga groups" hit the same targets -- common people including government officials and native enterpreneurs.

One truck pays some amount to one or two particular factions at Dimapur and subsequently move paying to different factions at different locations en route.

"This is nothing nut taxation terrorism and it indirectly encourages anti-India sentiment and also fosters corruption," a source said adding while armed cadres live lavishly, poor professional youths and villagers languish.

On this backdrop comes the roles of state forces who do not do much to stop exotrion, kidnapping and other ceasefire breaches.

The unholy nexus at various levels in various states has now come to the dragnet of the NIA.
