Mixed bag :::: Diplomatic engagement with Iran “yielded results” for Modi Govt :::::: "Change of regime in Iran will bring in stability in the region," says - Israeli envoy to India Reuven Azar

Shivalik LPG carrier, which sailed from the Persian Gulf, crossed the Strait of Hormuz and headed towards India, will be reaching today around 5 pm, maybe after an hour or so -- Govt of India

"And before its arrival,  documentation, priority berthing, and everything have been arranged at the port so that there is no delay in the discharge of cargo by this vessel. All Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf area are safe. No incident has been reported in the last 24 hours, and we are keeping a continuous watch on the situation.

We are in touch with each vessel and its crew. 22 vessels, as was reported on Saturday, also. 22 Indian flag vessels with 611 Indian seafarers remain in the west of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf..."

Ambassador of Israel to India, Reuven Azar said on Monday :

"Neither the United States nor Israel has the intention of invading Iran...We want to give the Iranian people a situation in which they can actually put pressure for a change in policy or for a change of the regime.

"We are going to see whether this happens or not but are resolute in putting a focus on that. It not only serves the Iranian people but it also serves our aim of creating a more stable future in the region.

"I think it also serves the general interest in the region, of the Gulf countries and also of the international community, to see a West Asia or Middle East which is much more stable and freer from the terrible threats that the Iranians were planning to build or they were actually building."

He also said:

"Imagine what Iran would do, after we saw how Iran attacked all the neighbours, if they had a nuclear arsenal...

What we are undergoing now is nothing compared to what could happen in the future if the US and Israel hadn't taken action now."

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that Iran allowing two Indian-flagged gas carriers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz demonstrated that diplomatic engagement between the two countries had "yielded results."

Iran has officially allowed India to use the Strait of Hormuz, which is otherwise shut by Iran, to transport oil and gas tankers through the narrow chokepoint.

Two gas carriers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, carrying around 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG, crossed the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 per cent of the world’s oil supply passes, on Saturday while heading to India. In an interview with The Financial Times (FT), Jaishankar said that the safe passage of the vessels illustrated the benefits of diplomatic engagement.

“Certainly, from India’s perspective, it is better that we reason, coordinate and find a solution than not,” he said.

Notably, for Iran, closing the Strait of Hormuz would be "easier than drinking a glass of water," a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had warned in 2011. It turned into reality in 2026 as Iran effectively choked the world’s most critical oil corridor.
