PM Modi in Kolkata : "A rapid campaign to modernise railway network is underway. It is our firm resolve that West Bengal must not be left behind"

 West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "These projects will give a new momentum to West Bengal and Eastern India. They will boost trade and industry, making life easier for millions of people and opening up new opportunities for them. The completion of the Kharagpur-Moregram Expressway will accelerate economic activity across various parts of West Bengal...  


He also flagged off the Purulia-Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi) Express in Kolkata in presence of new Governor R N Ravi. 


Modi unveiled connectivity projects worth Rs 18,680 crore in West Bengal on Saturday, ahead of the assembly elections. 

He laid the foundation stone for the 231 km-long four-lane Kharagpur-Moregram economic corridor, which will reduce the distance by around 120 km and save nearly seven to eight hours.










"A rapid campaign to modernise the country's railway network is currently underway. It is our firm resolve that West Bengal must not be left behind in this endeavour. Therefore, the Central Government is making concerted efforts to rapidly expand West Bengal's railway infrastructure as well...".  


“A new chapter of development for West Bengal and eastern India is being written from the land of Kolkata," he said. 


Projects related to road, railway and port infrastructure worth more than Rs 18,000 crore have been inaugurated and their foundation stones laid. 


These projects will give new momentum to West Bengal and eastern India, promote trade and industry, make life easier for lakhs of people and create new opportunities. 



With the completion of the Kharagpur–Moregram Expressway, economic activities in many parts of West Bengal will accelerate. Connectivity will also improve with the Dubrajpur bypass and the construction of major bridges over the Kansavati and Silavati rivers. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of West Bengal and the entire country for these projects.”
