"Did someone from Nagaland send a gift to Rahul Gandhi ?"

New Delhi

Politics is dynamic and it ought to be understood and grasped in its entirety, said

BJP legislator from Koridang Imkong L Imchen. "I have to defend my party... rather I have to speak the truth. No single factor can be attributed for the defeat of NDPP and PDA nominee Chumben Murry in recent Lok Sabha polls. Those who are blaming only BJP are just being shameful," Imchen told 'Nagaland Page' here in a brief interaction.

"Come on, face the truth. Is the media trying to help someone.... where is your ethics? Do not blame only my party. He was a consensus candidate and he fought in the NDPP symbol. So if anyone has been defeated electorally it is the NDPP candidate. But we all should do proper analysis why this happened," Imchen said rather in an angry mood when asked if BJP's anti-Christian politics led to the ultimate win for Congress candidate S Supongmeren Jamir.

"Election time people speak out.... There was strong anti-incumbency. It came out. You cannot blame only the BJP. It is shameful," said Imchen known for his flamboyant style of politics and frequent outbursts.

To a question, he laughed and said, " I am a big mouth politician, but I speak the truth".

Imchen during his stay in the national capital has met a number of Union Ministers and pressed for developmental projects.

"We also discussed Delhi weather.... this is quite abnormally hot on this side," he remarked when asked whether he is discussing "political matters" with Union Ministers.

The five time legislator met Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw among others and demanded establishment of the Nagaland Integrated Information System. Imchen is also Advisor to Departments of Information and Public Relations.

Of course it is a fact that the defeat of the NDPP candidate in Nagaland and also BJP and NPF nominees in Manipur have upset the saffron party top leaders in Delhi.

The BJP in recent years has been wooing Christians, especially in Christian-dominated northeastern states and also the southern state of Kerala.

The efforts have yielded political dividends too for the party, which recorded a maiden win in Kerala in the just concluded general election. In coastal Goa and the hilly northeastern states, the BJP has ruled mostly through coalitions with regional outfits, but it also gave Christian deputy chief ministers in Nagaland and Goa.

Answering questions, Imchen said, "Supongmeren's win should be debated more. Did someone from Nagaland try to send a gift to Rahul Gandhi.... by someone I mean some voters".

Imchen also said, "People of India have faith in Narendra Modi .... seats may increase or decrease. But he is a leader who can lead India during a crisis. The Covid 19 was one such mega tragedy but the

Prime Minister provided the right leadership and guidance. People of India will always appreciate

a series of extraordinary measures he took to provide good governance to people and the vaccines

on time".

"Modi emerged as our national leader at the time of need. Indians will always remember this," he added.
