Biden : "No one is pushing me out ... I’m not leaving" ::::– Kamala Harris set to meet Joe Biden as Democratic party anxiety deepens ..... ::::: Name 'Kamala' in Sanskrit means Lotus. Paradoxically, Lotus is also BJP's symbol

Biden tells campaign staff: ‘No one is pushing me out ... I’m not leaving’

Kamala Harris may be "only hope" for Democrats ...... Biden should step aside and endorse her

I have never been a fan of Kamala Harris, writes Mehdi Hasan in 'The Guardian' (London).

Mehdi Hasan is the CEO and editor-in-chief of Zeteo

#KamalaHarris in 2020 opposed #Modi's #Kashmir policy... When lawmaker Pramila Jayapal introduced a US House resolution urging #India to uphold human rights in Kashmir, Harris tweeted: "I stand with Jayapal"

I was an outspoken critic of her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, earning the ire both of her then spokesperson and also the notorious “KHive” of terminally online Harris fans.

Nor did I shed any tears when her campaign turned out to be a disaster and she ended up withdrawing from the race before a single vote had been cast in the primaries.

So it is with some surprise, reluctance and even trepidation that I am now writing these words: Joe Biden should stand aside and endorse Kamala Harris as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.

Yes, it is time for those of us who have been loud critics of Harris to make an even louder case for the vice-president. To lock arms with the dreaded KHive and put aside our longstanding doubts about the vice-president’s political skills.

Because the future of our republic may depend upon us doing so.

First, some facts about Joe Biden. The president was trailing Donald Trump in the polls before last week’s debate – and he is still trailing Donald Trump after the debate. The president was old before the debate – and he is even older after the debate. He, of course, continues to get older with every passing day.

On Sunday, a CBS News poll found a whopping 72% of voters say Biden does not have the “mental and cognitive health” to serve as president. Almost half of Democrats say they want the Democratic presidential nominee to step aside.

Kamala Harris set to meet Joe Biden as Democratic party anxiety deepens

2020 article/my piece appears relevant for leisure reading and more .....

"It is usual that global media celebrate the US presidential election because of the geopolitical and economic influence that Capitol Hill exerts on the world. The reportage of the November election, however, is gathering more steam than usual in India.

Some sections of the media say the nomination of Kamala Harris, whose mother is a migrant Indian, as the Democrats' vice president candidate could sway substantial votes of Asian Americans against Republican President Donald Trump.

While that remains nothing more than an expectation, social media discussion presents Harris' nomination as Joe Biden's running mate as the "blossoming of the American lotus," giving it a pro-Hindu tint.

The name Kamala in Sanskrit means lotus. Paradoxically, the lotus is also the electoral symbol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pro-Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Discussion on the blossoming of the American lotus, however ridiculous and silly it may be, shows the eagerness of a politically motivated group in India to connect every success in the world with their party.

Kamala Harris has hardly anything to do with India except that she is the daughter of cancer biologist Shyamala Gopalan, who migrated from the southern Indian city of Chennai.

Her father is a Jamaican migrant. It is natural if some American Indians live vicariously through her half-Indian status.

Indeed, during the Modi regime, India-US relations have improved.

The Modi-Trump bond has enhanced strategic ties in bilateral relations.
