Taiwanese companies keen for expansion in northeast India
Mizoram opens up collaboration with varsities

Several Taiwanese companies including software companies and those specializing in Smart City Initiatives have expressed confidence in the Indian market and say that they are keen for expanding their activities including in north east India.
The flagship platform for Taiwan-India economic and cultural exchanges, 'Taiwan Expo in India 2024,' has returned to New Delhi after a five-year break.
The seventh edition of the expo, featuring exhibitions and networking events, was inaugurated on Monday, July 8, by Cynthia Kiang, Director General of the International Trade Administration (TITA), and James Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who graced the occasion, announced the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with universities in Taiwan.
He expressed hope that this agreement will lead to better cooperation and progress between Mizoram and Taiwan
in particular and Taiwan and the rest of India in general .
"I hope this will be a harbinger for better cooperation and progress between Taiwan, India, and Mizoram... We have
already signed a MoU between our universities...," Chief Minister Lalduhoma said.
In his address, James Huang highlighted India's rise as a global manufacturing hub since 2018. He
emphasized Taiwan's role in enhancing supply chain resilience-by establishing a wafer fab in India,
aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative. Huang also noted Taiwan's AI capabilities in supporting
India's 'Digital India' and 'Smart Cities' initiatives.
During his stay in the capital, Mizoram CM Lalduhoma held crucial meetings in New Delhi on July 6 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed various developmental initiatives for the state.
A senior official in Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India. told 'Nagaland Page' that this is the biggest Taiwan expo in India since Covid and as many as 120 leading Taiwanese manufacturers have put on stalls and counters across five themes: Smart Manufacturing, Smart City, Smart Lifestyle, Wellness, and Green Innovations.
"This Expo provides an opportunity to explore a diverse range of cutting-edge products from our country Taiwan and a win-win situation for both sides," he said.
Joseph Lee of Kisco Taiwan Ltd said his company's product Organic Ultra Filtration unit for sewage treatment has generated much interest among visitors and Indian experts as they find it useful for industrial and farm use.
The membrane tube can employ a cross-flow filtration method which will reduce the risk of clogging and minimise sludge accumulation by adjusting the flow rate.
