Phrase "Quo Vadis" sounds so relevant today as one thinks of the NPF's symbol - the Cock

There was one "unnoticed" thing that was common between K L Chishi and regionalist Huska Sumi.

The latter hailed from Pughoboto and had a typical maverick style of functioning and making speeches in the state assembly. He would often end up criticising his own party or even himself.

He would use a phrase -- Quo Vadis. Even K L Chishi would like to use such jargons. An eminent lawyer and later a seasoned debater in the assembly - Chishi would use a number of Latin phrases and then make it a point to explain it to the journalists. With regard the then Governor M M Thomas (who had dissolved the state assembly in 1992 and allowed Vamuzo to continue as a caretaker chief minister) - Chishi had said -- "The Governor applied emotional yardstick. It was an action in "mens rea" -- meaning the intention or knowledge of wrongdoing and that may constitute part of an offence.

The phrase Quo Vadis - sounds so relevant today as one thinks of the NPF's highly sentimental symbol - the Cock. It actually means - whither thou goest .... where are you going".

According to some; the so-called Merger move between NDPP and NPF actually throws up a politics of deception.

This merger is creating a "breeding ground" and it will deceive the common people, the helpless and faceless voters with a mirage.

It fans the ego of the new and old sultans -- a phrase originally used by Late Jagmohan, who was Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and also Union Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In 2022, August 5th was a Red Letter Day for Nagaland in the context of people's movement to build pressure for an early Solution. It was on that day - the Naga People's Action Committee (NPAC) had accused the state authorities of "betraying" the cause of Solution and Peace in Nagaland.

In a letter to PM Narendra Modi, the NPAC had said -- "Unresolved Naga issue has produced countless .....".

These days - we do not get to hear about the NPAC.

Some of its leaders have 'retired' from public/social service, Some have given up 'activism' and some have chosen to go for statewide trips - without or with Boleros.

Talking about Bolero rides and regionalism of Tenyimia leaders and communities; I am reminded of certain remarks of former Nagaland assembly Speaker Zhovehu Lohe.

In 2020; he had said  - "A Naga chief minister of Manipur (Rishang Keishing) asserted that not even an inch of the Manipur territory will be budged for the Naga integration".

Rishang Keishing was a legendary Naga lawmaker for ex-CM of Manipur and during UPA regime; he was honoured for being the oldest surviving MP of the first Lok Sabha (1952-57).

Lohe also spoke about two definitions of Peace -- the Suppressed Peace and the Privileged Peace.

The 'suppressed peace' means --- Peaceful situation when common people are forced to live indoors, suffocating and keeping all kinds of 'activism' at bay.

On the other hand Privileged Peace -- is better understood by those in power. It's the peace of tranquility of prosperity.

These two simple definitions (or types) of Peace make relevance even for the Cock.

To the query -- Quo Vadis ---- where are you going - the Cock would easily say --

"I am Privileged and hence I have the Privileged Peace..... Look at those pork eaters and the Pigs -- all they have is the Suppressed Peace ".

Now. as a blogger may I take a pause ?

That may not be a Privilege completely.

But as I remember old regionalists -- I also remember --- Shurhozelie and Late Chalie Kevichusa used to often say -- "You cannot teach new tricks to old dogs".

Finally, in today's world we cannot do without a computer. In more ways than one the computer is the ultimate synergistic product, a brilliant combination of the calculator and the typewriter.

Of course when the personal computer (PC) was combined with the internet we had e-commerce boom. It shaped and changed the future of business and the world.

Are Nagas also optimistic today? If not; why ?
