(It is believed that the Narendra Modi Govt will have a very strong and perhaps also irresistible 'political' compulsion to retaliate against Pakistan and the terror hubs with force.)
India on Thursday, April 24th, briefed New Delhi-based envoys of almost all G20 nations and those from its strategic partners on the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack and its link to cross-border terrorism.
Diplomats of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Norway, Italy, Indonesia and Malaysia were also part of the briefing.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri apprised the diplomats about various aspects of Tuesday's terror attack that killed 26 innocent people.
India's firm policy of "zero tolerance" against terrorism was also emphasised.
The briefing was held a day after India announced a series of tough measures against Pakistan including expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, suspension of the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.
New Delhi has also announced shutting down of the Attari land-transit post.
The cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam attack vis-a-vis Pakistan was "brought out" in a briefing to the Cabinet Committee on Security.
Thousands have flocked to the streets to condemn the deadly attacks as business owners express concerns over the impact it has already had on the popular tourist destination during peak season.
There has been 80-90% cancellation of all tours and travels in the coming days in Pahalgam and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Many tour operators and small time business people say they might have to shift to another business if this continues.
Schools and businesses have resumed after being shut on Wednesday in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Observers say India’s military capabilities have grown since 2016 or even since 2019 since surgical strike after Uri or the Balakot attack after Pulwama.
Hence, experts suggest New Delhi may not hesitate to set eyes on bigger targets.

ReplyDeleteIt's true India’s military capabilities have grown since 2019 and 2016. New Delhi will be emboldened to take on taking the war against terror to a bigger scale. Thus, all eyes will be on "bigger targets" of PM Modi.
