Naga Political Pendulum !! When the mask 'falls' .... you really do not need people to Change !! New Delhi must make Rio new Peace Interlocutor ... but he should step down as Chief Minister !!

Authoritarian strongmen Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have mused on how organ transplants might lead to immortality !!

The Naga Political Pendulum is at one extreme these days.

The word 'immortality' is the favourite word of Shri Chingwang Konyak, NDPP president.

Like everywhere else -- politicians and elites in Nagaland including social activists and intellectuals did no descend from the sky with all virtues. They do not have the roadmap to give peace and a lasting Solution to the Naga problem. They may lack the basic will.

They also do not have any magic formula to provide employment.

But there is one gap or hole in all that I am speaking about. They are almost 'granted' a monopoly in their role(s) and this is something they have increasingly abused.

But all that is happening amid not much resistance. People are 'locked into' an ongoing descent into a more hellish reality. There is a greed and rather craze for Status Quo to prevail.

Now look at those who call themselves small and medium business operators. Of course being the entrepreneurs means they will receive the profits --- but profits in Nagaland (or in the Naga way of life) must end up somewhere else. -- Assam, Manipur, Delhi and even Nagpur or Bengaluru.

As I pen the name of the orange city - Nagpur -I do remember that place is also headquarters for the RSS.

The Hindutva organisation has started a new mission lately with the blessings of the Modi Govt -- that is to 'nationalise and rationalise' the Hindutva brand of politics even overseas. For records, they say we are not for 'religiosity' -- that is how to worship and where to pray.

Even the phrase 'Hindu Rashtra' is all about inclusiveness, says Mohan Bhagwat.

Well, the point is taken. But why they are not bothered about the mess in states such as Manipur and Nagaland is sometime baffling. For Manipur violence, the RSS did get a large size of the blame because people involved in ethnic clashes were Hindu Meiteis.

But when it comes to Nagaland or the Naga issue -- gradually things could be out of control.

The Home Minister Amit Shah recently declined to meet a Naga delegation that also had BJP ministers.

Home Minister Amit Shah had rejected the demand for a new interlocutor in Nov 2024 itself.

He was also categorical with the ministerial delegation led by Neiphiu Rio -- the record breaking chief minister. Do not blame R N Ravi or A K Mishra - they are only 'messengers' and they do what they are expected of. But yet again the so-called demand for a new negotiator has been made even this year. Hence we find one thing - perhaps Political expediency is overriding national interests.

The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat lately made a clear distinction. He said "we have expertise on how to run RSS shakha (local units)" --- and he added - the BJP or the ministers have expertise in running the affairs of the government.

But it is always understood that overall National Interests should be of interest for RSS. Of course - they need not depute any character -- who will be as weak or as strong a personality - that PM Narendra Modi has got him axed and exiled.

Nevertheless, the RSS should not remain silent either.

I kept underlining in writing or in personal meeting with Late La Ganesan that as a former RSS pracharak; he will do magic for his organisation and the country if being in Raj Bhavan, Kohima-- he and PM Modi can deliver the Solution.

The gentleman was too simple to understand the complexities of the Naga issue and more so about the power politics of Nagaland.

Now; new Governor Ajay Bhalla will have to pull up sleeves.

He should meet leaders of business chambers in Dimapur. He may find a good army of 'temporarily embarrassed and harassed Bolero-rich billionaires'.

One of my friends in Dimapur often argues (either with his Vodka and without it) -- why I keep insisting on Solution when people who matter really do not want it.

One of these days -- he said -- "Having an irrational but positive view of future may be one of the effective ways to deal with the present impasse".

This remark has drawn me to moot a plan --

-- The Govt of India should concede the demand for a new negotiator in Naga peace talks.

--- New Delhi may replace A K Mishra as was the case with R N Ravi.

--- Importantly, that new negotiator should be Mr Neiphiu Rio himself

.... but going by one man-one post policy - he must be made to step down as the 'legendary chief minister'.

The mandated chief minister can be the best 'politically mandated' interlocutor.

Didn't we hear that making things worse for others pays the bills ?

Naga politician of the year !!
