PM Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Assam, Manipur, Mizoram to launch developmental projects
After the foundation-laying ceremony, PM Modi will address a public gathering before inaugurating projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore in the state capital, Imphal.
Mizoram, Manipur, Assam - Sept 13
Sept 14 - Assam
Sept 15 :: In West Bengal, PM will inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025 in Kolkata.
Thereafter, the Prime Minister will travel to Bihar, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport at around 2:45 PM.
The tragedy of Imphal in Manipur vis-a-vis Kukis is of serious dimension. Kuki-Zo people cannot visit Imphal or even reach Imphal airport for travel to the rest of India.
Similarly, Meiteis cannot go to Churachandpur.
The 'division' is strong and has left people's faith in each other communities shattered.
"The PM's September 13 visit to Manipur will pave the way for peace, normalcy, and growth in the state," - Manipur Chief Secretary
On Sept 7, Governor Ajay Bhalla held a crucial meeting with BJP MLAs from the Imphal Valley region.
Importantly, from "politico-diplomatic move" is concerned, former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, and the BJP's state President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi also attended.
In Delhi, things are being scrutinized at multiple levels. There were reports of some anti-BJP posters in some 'valley areas'. Naturally, the Lotus party and authorities would like to underplay those.
At the same time; if there are still issues in Imphal valley, the BJP should get its house in order.
Any ambition politician(s) should be shown his place !!
In view of the prevailing situation in Manipur and the PM's visit, security has been stepped up across Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Bishnupur and adjoining districts.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also held a meeting with five MLAs, belonging to the Kuki-Zo communities in Churachandpur and discussed the visit of the Prime Minister.
Avoiding election campaign in 2023 (Mizoram state polls) and 2024 - Lok Sabha polls both in Manipur and Mizoram - were considered strategic moves in safe-play.
Mizos share ethnic bonds and even language with Kukis and the BJP leadership did not want anything silly like black-flag demonstration against their superstar poll campaigner.
Now in Sept 2025 - reports from Manipur and also Mizoram and Assam suggest security arrangements have been tightened for PM's visit.
Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps at Rangapahar, undertook a high-level visit to Manipur to review the prevailing security situation in view of the "upcoming VVIP visit to the state".
That's how professional people in uniform should 'disclose' information.
Lt Gen Pendharkar also engaged with personnel from Army, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Manipur Police, and other security agencies deployed across Manipur.
#Hmar Youth welcome banners on eve of PM's visit to Churachandpur areas of Manipur were refreshing.
Hmars are also from Kuki and Zo family.
There are substantial numbers of Hmar population in Mizoram. Hence, these banners are welcome signals.
There were also multiple welcome banners for the Prime Minister from the apex Kuki Zo Council. But the Kuki leaders are insisting on their demand for a separate Union Territory.
Once upon a time -- BJP's "burden CM" |
One can say that the state of Manipur as a whole, and the three segments of the society -- the Meiteis, the Kukis and Nagas -- cannot be seen flirting dangerously with civil unrest.
The northeastern region and even Manipur have seen enough of such clashes and enough of so-called ethnic 'cleansing'.
In these blogs numerous times we have spoken about 'us' and 'them' syndromes in the region. Some people would tell you about -- 'the logic of us and the ideology of others' motivates the root cause of identity politics in the northeast.
Manipur Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel announced that the Prime Minister will arrive on Sept 13 to inaugurate development projects worth Rs 8,500 crore.
PM Modi will first land in Churachandpur where he will interact with some of the internally displaced persons in the district.
Modi will visit Mizoram and Assam.
He also head towards West Bengal and poll-bound Bihar. Elections are due in Bihar by November and in Assam and West Bengal by April-May 2026.
Tomorrow, he will begin his tour in Mizoram.
He will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth over Rs 9,000 crore in Aizawl.
Following this, he travels to Manipur.
Later in the evening, the Prime Minister will visit Assam to take part in the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati.
