Veteran Naga leader says there is something seriously wrong ....
"In Nagaland, we are nurturing a politics devoid of any principle ... where only power and illicit lucre rule the roost" - says veteran S C Jamir adding -- "this is equally applicable to both over ground and underground participants".
He also said - "In the name of Naga Sovereignty the very essence and soul of the Naga society has been mercilessly and callously butchered".
Addressing the inaugural session the 'Military Civil Fusion 2025' at Kohima over video arrangements, former CM and ex-Governor Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha; Jamir says:
"When the cross section of Naga society including the underground groups actively and enthusiastically participate in all the elections .... which were undoubtedly conducted under the Constitution of India, it is not a fait accompli that the electorate of Nagaland even including the underground had actively participated in the election?".
Dr Jamir, who has seen and served with all Prime Ministers since Jawaharlal Nehru said --
"The Power matrix needs to be understood properly before we go deep into the theme of my paper - Shaping future through political statesmanship and Military-Civil synergy."
Jamir re-emerging as a protagonist of nationalism of his younger days has said that --
"The people of Nagaland should recognise that their future is tied with the future of the country".
But he underlines that -- "For this to happen ..... the Govt of India should adopt an inclusive approach to development that guarantees equal opportunity for Nagaland".
On this backdrop he says:
India along with China and Japan will be key players in the affairs of the world. But he also adds:
"A small state like India has great potential which if optimally harnessed can contribute significantly to the common growth of the country".
The three-day long seminar is being organised by the office of GoC, Nagaland or IGAR- North.
