This blog is being written with certain amount of risk.
Did Mani Shankar Aiyar address cabinet meetings ?
Ki .... likhise ho !!
Heart does not forget ..... while the Mind can easily forget !!
Money or Bolero cannot decide either way !!
The blogger may be banned from taking pork rice by the NDPP (till now) supporters at the APJ Abdul Kalam Road.
Some Y Patton's cops may also arrest when I land there in Nagaland next time.
But some risk is worth trying it out !! After all -- there is a responsibility attached for being a 'mirror'.
Blogger Blogger .... I mean 'mirror .. mirror ... will tell you ---
today ....
Honourable Mr Azo and his MLA colleague and the rest of NPF comrades and leaders -- instead of handing over the NPF to "honourable" and my onetime esteemed 'well wisher' (once upon a time there was 1990s ....
You could be just handing over the NPF and its pride 'Cock' symbol to one Mani Shankar Air.
'Power' before the Throne - 1985-89 |
I need to caution that people of India have forgiven and forgotten Rajiv Gandhi. But they have not forgotten the 'very powerful' Mani Shankar Aiyar of the 1984 to 1989 era.
And believe it or not -- thousands of Indians are still punishing Rahul Gandhi in 2024-25 for the 'arrogance' of Mani Shankar Aiyar.
I would not have perhaps tried to write something on these lines had not I was handed over the NDPP press statement by one leader of Arvind Kejriwal's party.
And he told me "aia bhi hota hae" ?
In fact, AAP leaders dreamt in 2014 that the Congress will 'merge' with AAP (virtually) and make Arvind Kejriwal the Prime Minister.
In 2025, AAP is surprised how a party with majority of its own will merge with a losing outfit of two MLAs.
I know how to tease Delhi wallahs - "Woh Nagaland hae .... Karol Bagh nahi".
The Congress leaders almost did that. But Varanasi voters and millions of Indians were swept by a chae-wallah !!

Regionalist doyen and blogger - 1990s (almost vanished era under new Mani Shankar Aiyar) |
Towering leaders Chingwang Konyak (NDPP president) and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio attended the crucial meeting.
But the party statement says - the CEB deliberations were "chaired" not by Chingwang or Rio.
If the press-release writer (as smart as any one under the sky) mistook the word 'moderated' by with 'chaired' ...
---
no blogger would burn mid-night energy and 'light'.
But... but .... and but....
I know NPC (prevision version of NPF) as a party of Vamuzo and the like.
Vamuzo-led NPC had lost the 1993 polls but he remained assertive
-- when he used to say in the Assembly and also outside -- "we are fighting cocks".
... we knew that was a 'regionalist' stalwart speaking.
That spirit is already diluted. And we cannot complain if the NPF has taken a decision with their wisdom.
But stories about NDPP functioning is too well known in the corridors of power and beyond at Kohima.
Some newspersons used to even advice me a few years back --- 'attack the King; do not attack Mani Shankar Ayar'.

'Brainy Regionalist' and Blogger - 2022 - When Shurhozelie said -- "We will wake up on time" (Sadly he did not) |
It is said that in folk tales and middle class contexts -- there are three kinds of leadership, one should be careful about.
One is afraid, again these 'ancient theories' from Bengal originate in the thinking process and fertile brains of male chauvinism.
One, Stri Nayak (women leadership in the context of families),
** Shishu (child leadership) and third,
Bhritya Nayak, that is leadership/guardianship of the servant/subordinates.
Even the illustrations are based on typically 'middle class' family plots. Let us reverse the table. With Bhritya, that is Servant leadership; -- some families decide their priorities on how the servant/cook in the family will think.
So when a guest arrives, the cook Jagan Babu is asked, "Tell Jagan kaka our guest has come from Nagaland, what shall he eat". The servant will say --
"Sir, it is Rohu fish and prawns". The helpless guest is at the mercy of the Servant and his lunch is decided.
Of course, as a married man one is aware who decides certain things in life and in the family. Yes,that creature is called the 'Father in law's Maha- intelligent daughter'.
The 'women power' - we all call and want it for our own daughters and sisters and often resist for someone else.
Of course, in such families men also feel proud to be called henpecked.
No political party in Nagaland will dare to have 'Hen' as a symbol !!
And then comes some families where the baby 'Chunnu' will decide - what the uncle ji will have.
"Maggi" -- and the verdict is passed.
That Maggi could be poison for you but none can help.
With faithful servants -- there is quite an interesting English phrase -- 'The Man Friday'.
Either the 'Man Friday' commits a blunder on a Thursday and the boss comes to the rescue on the Friday is immaterial.
Go to Nepal; and they may tell you an together a new phrase Nepo-Slave.
I call it 'Mani Mishra' or someone may call Brajesh Aiyar ji !!
What matters most is often the 'powerful servants' will decide or contribute to the downfall of the king. In Delhi -- the medieval period - of course often glorified in history books - gave us the so-called Slave Dynasty.
Each ruler was a former 'slave'.
