Rahul 'displeased' about Haryana performance or efforts on to 'protect' the crown prince !!

Randeep Singh Surjewala and Kumari Selja – were absent at the crucial Congress meeting convened to review Congress hat-trick in defeat in the state of Haryana.

That means the story is no longer hazy on what really brought the debacle !

The participants at the Congress meeting to review its loss in Haryana has given an inkling into what lies ahead. The meeting called by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was attended by party MP Rahul Gandhi, MLA and 'party's face' Bhupinder Singh Hooda and central observers such as Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken and Pratap Singh Bajwa.

Reports say - Surjewala and Kumari Selja were not invited. Another version is they declined to come.

There are other important takeaways.

One Diagnosis is that the mandate was clearly against the Hoodas. There was this perception that after the father, the son would take over. Rahul Gandhi brushing shoulders with Deepender Hooda reinforced this perception.

At the meeting, Rahul sounded furious more than once. Even on the issue of EVM misuse as the party is now trying to blame the EC and the BJP; Rahul reportedly told his longtime associate Deepak Barbaria (a Gujarat-based leader) that the party would need more details to substantiate the charge.

Rahul also said - the loss was "unacceptable".

The Congress insiders say the biggest concern bothering the strategists now is that this Haryana mandate will make its allies such as NCP (Pawar faction) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) presume that the Congress can again become only a liability. even in Maharashtra.

The list of dynasts in the Congress party in Haryna is long. Party’s Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary’s wife, Pooja Chaudhary was a candidate from Mulana.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala’s son, Aditya Surjewala was given the ticket from Kaithal. Aditya won the seat and there is allegation that Surjewala dedicated most of his time and energy in the constituency where his son was the candidate.

Randeep father, Shamsher Singh Surjewala, was a four-time Congress MLA and a former minister. Congress leader and Hisar MP Jai Parkash’s son Vikas Saharan also contested from the Kalayat seat.
