ARMS AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED IN MANIPUR AFTER JOINT OPERATIONS BY INDIAN ARMY, ASSAM RIFLES AND COPS

 JOINT OPERATIONS BY INDIAN ARMY, ASSAM RIFLES AND SECURITY FORCES RESULTS IN RECOVERY OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN MANIPUR


In a series of successful joint operations, Indian Army, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police  and other security forces, recovered 22 weapons,,Improvised Explosive Device (IED), ammunition and warlike stores (WLS) from both hill and valley regions in the districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Thoubal of Manipur. 


On 21 October 2024, troops of Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police launched a coordinated search operation in the forested area between Laimaton and Aigejang in Kangpokpi District and recovered of a .303 Sniper Rifle, a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, a 9mm Pistol, a Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) Gun, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores.


A joint team from Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation in the vicinity of B Phainom VillageIn Thoubal District on 24 October 24 . The search team uncovered a freshly dug pit concealed with grass and black polythene bags, containing a 9mm Carbine, a “pompi” shotgun, a grenade, ammunition and other war-like stores.


On the same day, an intelligence based operation launched by troops of Indian Army along with the Manipur Police launched a search operation in the fringe areas of Imphal East District, in the general area of Lairok. 


The operation, supported by a trained Army dog, resulted in the discovery of an arms cache to include one 2-inch Mortar, one .303 Rifle, one Double Barrel Rifle, two Pistols, one Pompi Gun, Grenades, ammunition and warlike stores. The recovered items have since been handed over to Manipur Police.












Following this, on 25 October 2024, joint operations were launched in three separate locations.


In Teibung village, Churachandpur District Indian Armyand Manipur Police uncovered an extensive cache that included two .303 rifles, two .22mm semi-automatic rifles, one large country-made mortar (pompi), a 12 Bore Pistol, ammunition and war like stores.


Simultaneously, a similar operation was conducted in Uyungmakhong village, Bishnupur District, Indian Army, Manipur Police and CRPF, recovered one  SLR rifle, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 2.431 kg, Grenades, and war like stores.


In Imphal West District, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Manipur Police launched an intelligence based operation in Shantipur Makha Leikai Shamushang and recovered a Single Barrel Bore Rifle, two 9mm pistols, grenades ammunition and war-like stores.


The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police. 





The successful recovery of these warlike stores highlights the seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and other law enforcement agencies, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the region, sources say.
