Rio was my student, he does have fear of God, says Sano Vamuzo
"CM's mother was a God fearing lady"

The Chief Minister's job is "not an easy job" and incumbent CM Neiphiu Rio is in that position for so long because there is a God's programme and plans for that, said prominent social worker and former president of Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) Sano Vamuzo.
"No body can become a Chief Minister just because someone wants to," Mrs Vamuzo, wife of former CM Late Vamuzo Phesao, told this journalist at her Kohima residence.
"I am a follower of Biblical values...there is a God's plan to make Neiphiu Rio the Chief Minister and also keep him in office for so long. I cannot become the Chief Minister just because I want to," she said adding, "Neiphiu was my student years back... we knew his family. His father was a sincere gentleman and his mother was God fearing".
Answering a question, she said - "I know him as my former student. He does have fear of God.... People have high expectations. Some time people want miracles....But there is God's hand behind everything. Maybe as a man he can't do better".
Mrs Vamuzo, 84, "Many things are uncertain in our state...forget peace in political sense. There is no peace of mind. As an individual no one can be perfect".
To another question, she said - "Nagaland situation is very challenging. Nagas are also suffering because of greed. Here I will quote Mahatma Gandhi - he had said Man can have according for his needs; but he cannot have as per one's greed. This greed is very bad".
"Of course, if you ask me I will say Nagaland has also been suffering because of greed and corruption," she remarked.
Mrs Sano Vamuzo - known for her matured political understanding in 1980s and 1990s - also said - "Nagas had gained something when Statehood was given... but that did not end the dispute".
In this context, she said - "There were a lot of expectations from the ongoing Naga peace talks. And Solution should have come. I cannot blame anyone... at times I get a feeling, real issues are not being discussed. People only love to beat about the bush. Hence, I will say the responsibility is more on the centre".
To a specific question, she said - "I find Prime Minister Narendra Modi sincere about resolving the Naga political problem".
She also said : "Maybe as a Naga woman, I was one of the first to meet Shri Modi when he was still the Gujarat Chief Minister. Our delagation from Women Commission in Nagaland met him in Gandhinagar. But many years later when I received the Padmashri award; PM Modi was at the function..he came to congratulate me. I asked, do you remember me when I met you in Gujarat; the Prime Minister surprised me when he said; "!How can I forget you".
To a question on "major differences' between the people of rest of India and Nagas; the former NMA chief said - "Nagas have a young civilisational history and India has a very old civilisation. So both have to work together now".
She also added: "Many a times you all do not understand... peace cannot be imposed from top. Peace has to be established from grassroots levels. We have to learn to live together upholding a smooth relationship between Naga people and the common masses of India".
But she also maintained that the "element of self determination is installed in our (Naga people's) heart".
