** Death may be a tragedy !! But the death of a class mate is .... like to be 'left' behind with memories ! and some parts of you .... gone !!
Those memories.... naughty and mischief days ... something ... not even your wife can know.
OMG ... are we aware ... we had also lost Dharmendu Chaudhary .... much before ???
When a Narayan meets Christo ... in the other world; it has to be "Laa Boh Leeaa!!" occasion -
That's what we Ex-Anthonians should be proud of
Extracts from my old blog of 2015 !! (Between 1984-85 and 2015 .... we thought we had come a long way.... such a long way .... but then .... Life is also MERCILESS ..... and hence --- two of our friends are gone !!
"He was there and will still be there with us" |
"About such meetings, one must add: We had a similar ‘outstanding’ meeting with Supercop Dr Christopher recently. (*that is 2015)
He knows the menu well. Anthonian spirit was more in action. But another Anthonian spirit is in Sanjay Das's efforts when he met our Late friend Narayan Rao's sister and took her to the school where a stone stands in memory of Narayan Rao.
Merciless Bangalore roads took Narayan away from us.
*****
Roads may be signs of development; but they are killers too !!
And what about uncle -- 'daru' and Philosopher-king Alcohol !!
'When we met' - 2023 Meghalaya polls :: Blogger, Bidbuhphang Lur and Manoj Sakhrani |
In between... as I also recall --- we lost Joydeep (Da) Das - elder bro of our bosom friend Sanjay Das.
But from our batch match ... now we have two stars .. up in the sky !!
I am sure Narayan Rao must have embraced Christo. And did they smile...?
Naughty chaps they must be smiling and laughing all along since then ....
.... perhaps forgetting that that those in Shillong, Nagaland (I was in rural part of the state on the ill-fated day) and in Manipur, Indore and many other places - not forgetting good old Shillong and Guwahati .... There will be a bunch of boys pretending to be men and fathers and obedient and also disobedient husbands .... ... wailing inconsolably.
These tears are never the so called tears of joy ...... These tears are of anguish and grievance !
And two princes .. up there do wait for us...
We will come ... I can't say soon. A father has his duties towards the dominating daughters and mischievous sons. "La Boh" would take a circle
A circle is also a lot about history !!
No; our Maths teachers at St Anthony's Shillong (in eighties) Dasgupta sir and Nandi ji and A K Dutta did not teach that.
But HISTORY truly has an image of a circle. Men and women begin and begin again with the same beliefs and approaches -- to come back to the same history !
There is a very popular Hindi song ---

ReplyDeleteDear Narendra,
ReplyDeleteYour words have stirred up a mix of emotions - nostalgia, sadness, and gratitude. The passing of our dear classmates, leaves an unfillable void.
Your reflections on the Anthonian spirit and the bond we shared are priceless. Those "naughty and mischief days" will forever remain etched in our memories, a testament to the joy and camaraderie we experienced.
As Bah Lur so aptly put it, "He was there and will still be there with us." Their memories will continue to inspire and guide us.
Thank you for revisiting your 2015 blog and sharing these poignant thoughts. Your words remind us to cherish our friendships and hold them close, for life can be unpredictable.
May Chris, Narayan & Dermendu's souls rest in peace, and may their memories continue to unite us in spirit.
Warm regards,
Sanjay Das
