In Nagaland, people generally love Boleros .... the vehicle is helpful even to visit churches :::: Pamshin has called NNPG 'pro-India' ..... but is that a compliment for Kitovi ?

My favourite Nagaland state made news lately when seven NCP MLAs merged with the NDPP, state's all powerful ruling party.

These added numbers 'adds' strength to the NDPP's legislative wing.

Technically, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio can now boot out all BJP Ministers from his cabinet.

Far off in Delhi - the Lotus party is loving it and not bothered much.

So can a reshuffle happen at the earliest?

Nagas are rice eaters and as someone "experienced", we know 'pork and rice' make a good combo.

In English there is a phrase "loaves and fishes". It has become an idiom symbolizing material gain or profit, especially when acquired through religious or moral pretenses.

'Loaves and Fishes' actually refers to the biblical story where Jesus miraculously fed a large crowd with only five loaves of bread and two fish.

In Nagaland, people generally love Boleros. The vehicle is helpful even to visit churches. No pastor would ask you - how did the manufacturers make the vehicle.

Jamir and some of us in 1998

In 1994, five-six MLAs had defected from NPC and decided to support the S C Jamir government. As the Leader of the Opposition Vamuzo was furious and he had said:

"Jamir wants to keep them as spare tyres".

Within months various kinds of problems started for Jamir. There was a massive decline in law and order situation, killings started and during one of the meetings in Delhi, reportedly (and almost certainly), the Chief Minister was also pulled up by the then Home Minister S B Chavan.

On his return, Jamir had convened a meeting of senior officials and told them at the old Zonal Council Hall (which was reduced to ashes in 2017) -- "I had tough times with the Home Minister".

Reflecting these things may not make much sense; but may make also.

The BJP is now an onlooker in Nagaland politics. Will Chingwang Konyak's party really go for the bite ?

But in any case troubles and turmoil are two sides of the same coin.  Time for BJP to realise how wrong they were in allowing NDPP walk away with 40 seats in 2023.

In 2025, the ILP row has been pushed either by a design or circumstances. Congress leader Rajesh Sethi has referred to the Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) issue.

"The BJP in Nagaland is doing picnic," says Sethi -- he was still too soft and may be trying not to displease his 'friends' in the BJP.

But he showed a smartness in pointing out the obvious. "Some people do not want Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), that is another game. Will these policies help natives? I have my apprehension."

Very loaded and powerful words. New Delhi took note of these observations.

The complexities have many shades of colours and faces.

New Delhi is now about to make another round of efforts to resolve Naga issue.

Apparently some protagonists have got a hint.

Almost like a bolt from the blue came in a letter penned by Pamshin Muivah, political emissary to Ato Kilonser Thuingaleng Muivah. The letter has unprecedented anti-India and anti-Hindu quotable references.

These should mean something for Kohima politics.

Pamshin is a strong contender to succeed Muivah. Chingwang Konyak has well wishers everywhere. And those who wish you well can at times command you also.

***

For instance Panshim says: "The Hindutva/ Hindu hegemony objective of the Indian state is to consolidate its military and political power in order to establish a fascist “Hindu Rashtra state”. For the belligerent Hindutva/ Hindu hegemony, the Indian state needs and will seek conflict with neighbouring countries as it is doing in the contemporary period. "

The language appears have been 'imported' from China and who knows this might have come via Bangladesh route as well. Normally, the underground leaders stay away from this kind of politics and mudslinging vis-a-vis the power that be in New Delhi.

What's the point of stating (writing) something which are clearly at the "behest of China" ?

The timing of the letter addressed to the 'collective leadership'  is obviously interesting and offers curious excitement.

'Direct confrontation' between 'Indians' and Nagas over ILP may end up becoming just a pretext to certain developments in Nagaland.

Are some people irked over the issue of 'common platform' ?  The ground is shaky everywhere.

The emergence of a neo-assertive Narendra Modi after May 7th has unnerved many players. And we may soon enter another phase.

The senior NSCN-IM functionary has called the “Naga National Political Groups” (NNPGs) as "pro-India".

In the excitement of the entire game; the writer may not realise that he has only given a 'compliment' to N Kitovi Zhimomi -- who has proved his utility in Naga politics.

Pamshin also says: "The NSCN/GPRN must uphold and defend the statement of Q. Tuccu, Chairman,NSCN by standing firm against the Indian state and its agencies conspiracy to deceitfully tarnish and destroy the sanctity and the letter and spirit of the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015".

In a season when some civil society organisations may pick up the RIIN to flag off a 'real issue' once again; a clever way to glorify Mr Tuccu is well understood by New Delhi.

New Delhi takes jaundiced view of everything. It sees, the NSCN-IM has three options --

-- * Accept the reality and sign the Solution pact.

** Secondly, enjoy the Status Quo with the fellow club members and a few new guests; -- and

thirdly -- break the ceasefire, blast Moditva and go back to jungles.

Tail piece:

When I K Gujral was Prime Minister, Late Chadrashekhar had once said - "Mr Prime Minister instead of getting angry at Atal Bihari Vajpayee and others; it is high time sometime you should get angry at yourself".

Our dear friend and the most durable CM of Nagaland, Mr Neiphiu Rio, might have reached that stage.
