Battle b/w Chaos and Authority ?? :::: If Washington is in a 'melting pot' .... What should New Delhi do ?? ::::: Trump is now confronting Governor of California .... Gavin Newsom calls it "authoritarian", US Prez says Guv should be arrested

“It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal.”

― Henry Kissinger

Should the Modi government draw its right lessons from the words of Kissinger  ? Or it has already drawn.

"I am somebody.....," -- is a dangerous thing to believe.

Americans may soon realise that History will not suggest that being a successful businessman is a good qualification for the presidency.

Assessments would differ widely about what kind of government Donald Trump has established in January 2025.

At the initial weeks expectations ranged all the way from the least to the most dramatic and dangerous. There is a widespread believe in the comity of nations these days that under Trump, the America is going crazier. It is unpredictable by each day. And the most powerful man in Washington today stands clueless about many things and yet he believes he has the mandate and the power to push his ways.

Trump is walking a dangerous path. If he keeps sliding down, the present psyche in the US governance can throw up no one perhaps knows what and who !!

Strongmen love inventing or exploiting crises - they say - to justify extreme measures and extended power. The US is taking another step towards authoritarianism.

"He has gratefully accepted the early gift of the demonstrations, which have spread across the country, with more scheduled for Saturday.

The president’s immigration crackdown spurred overwhelmingly peaceful protests in Los Angeles. Ordering in troops, over the governor’s head, then inflamed the situation and allowed the agent of chaos to portray himself as its nemesis once more," says The Guardian in its edit.

American decline started under Biden : No doubt !!

Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, rightly described this as an assault on democracy. As he noted, “authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. But they do not stop there.” Due process has been discarded. American citizens are among those being swept up in raids. Mr Trump has said that Mr Newsom himself should be arrested.

Mr Trump’s tactics are familiar in both the broad and narrow sense. In his book On Tyranny, published in 2017, the historian Timothy Snyder urged readers to listen for “dangerous words” such as “emergency” and reminded them that “the sudden disaster” requiring the suspension of freedoms “is the oldest trick in the Hitlerian book”.

Mr Trump drew a bleak portrait of American carnage in his inaugural speech and described himself as “the only thing standing between the American dream and total anarchy”. Since his re-election he has declared emergencies to push through tariffs, loosen energy regulations and ramp up deportations.

to be America's friend is fatal !!

Even Americans are surprused at the craziness displayed by Trump,

Responsibly challenging the abuse and entrenchment of power is not only the right of citizens, but a duty; are Americans ready to understand what's happening around?

So far perhaps we have only scratched the surface about the circumstances surrounding Mr Trump. One may add here that the most powerful disturber of the psyche is the universal feeling that a once powerful superpower is being stripped of its respect by the national leadership itself.

Worse, there may be more specific constraints upon volcanoes !!

From India's point of view, Operation Sindoor was a crucial strategy in action. That it actually unfolded at a battle field against terror is also crucial.

And the manner it unfolded, New Delhi was able to expose China's defence supplies. It also showed American supplies in bad light.

The US is today irked and China is envious. But there is a paradox too. Both China and the US need India to counter the other.

Of course, fighting terrorism and presuming that the US will back India was always going to be like pinning a jelly to a wall.

The US needs Pakistan for dirty works and it requires India for the good works such as Quad etc.

However, for these reasons and many more, opinion is just about unanimous in international circle that there has to be some 'restoration' of normalcy.

Wrap up

The tuxedo-clad US president had stood on a red carpet, accompanied by first lady Melania in a long black dress, promising a “golden era” for America before attending the musical Les Misérables, which translates as

The Miserable Ones or The Wretched.

The story of Les Mis is inspired by the June Rebellion, an 1832 insurrection by republicans against the authoritarianism of a newly established French king. No one is expecting a replay from Republicans in June 2025.

“I love Les Mis,” Trump said. “We’ve seen it many times. We love it. One of my favourites.” He was untroubled by reports that understudies may perform due to boycotts by cast members.

Then on Iran: Trump said - “They can’t have a nuclear weapon. Very simple. They can’t have a nuclear weapon. We’re not going to allow that.”

Final takeaway ::::

Americans do not face a contest between democracy and authority. They have far more challenging situation --- a battle between Chaos and Authority.

  1. USA President is like mad man without his senses and in that way there is hardly any chances of leading the present World Order . His impulsive statements or warnings hardly even cared for by USA's citizens.😃😃😃 -- Mr Bidhan
