ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES 11TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA ACROSS MANIPUR*



As part of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Assam Rifles launched a state-wide wellness campaign from 05 June 2025 onwards across Manipur, embracing the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Pre-Yoga Day sessions were conducted at Keithalmanbi, Sehlon, Sajik Tampak, Komlakhong, Moreh, Marjing Polo Ground, Shakpao, Ramva, Shirui Hill, Wanglee, Kwatha, Shaibol and  Good Shepherd School, Kasom Khullen, among others.


 Over 2620 participants, including troops, families, school children and  civilians, took part in these sessions led by trained instructors, engaging in asanas, pranayama and  meditation. These initiatives not only promoted physical fitness and mental resilience among troops but also fostered stronger bonds with local communities through inclusive outreach and shared wellness.




The major celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga by Assam Rifles was held at Headquarters IGAR (South), Mantripukhri, where around 350 personnel including Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, Jawans and their families enthusiastically participated in a structured morning yoga session.



 Additionally, a 55-member team of Officers and Jawans from Assam Rifles took part in the state-level event at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal. The event was graced by Hon’ble Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who led hundreds of participants through a unified yoga session, reflecting the widespread appeal and resonance of the International Day of Yoga in Manipur.


On 21 Jun 2025, Assam Rifles, commemorated the Day with widespread participation across the state of Manipur, under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth One Health”. The celebrations spanned more than 35 locations across Imphal West , Imphal East, Ukhrul, Kamjong ,Chandel, Tengnoupal, Kakching, Thoubal and Churachandpur Districts.


Over 5000 individuals including Assam Rifles personnel, families, schoolchildren, local youth, villagers and ASHA workers took part in structured yoga sessions guided by trained instructors. Participants practised asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental clarity and emotional well-being.


In addition to the various forward locations, key events were held at Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi Garrisons in Imphal West , Somsai and Shangshak Garrisons in Ukhrul, Veng, Khuga, Singhat, Tuibong , Behiang, Kangkap, Z Khunou, Suangdai and H Khunou and  various forward locations in Churachandpur, Sajik Tampak and Khengjoi in Chandel, Pallel in Kakching and  T Minou and Chavangphai in Tengnoupal Disrict. Company Operating Bases at Moreh, Chassad, Kasong, Sorde, Kamtong, Aishi, Kongkhan and others also hosted yoga sessions, embracing the spirit of wellness even in remote border areas.


At the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Moreh Assam Rifles in collaboration with BSF personnel, ICP staff, Land Ports authority of India , School children and teachers practiced yoga led by a trained instructor. The event showcased strong inter-agency synergy and civil-military cooperation, with special appreciation extended to the schoolchildren and teachers for their spirited involvement.


Mass yoga events in villages in Chandel including Sehlon, Aibol Joupi, Phoilen, Samtal and Hengkot witnessed participation from over 280 civilians and 200 Assam Rifles personnel, showcasing strong civil-military bonds. In Khuga, Behiang, Singhat and Z Khunou areas of Churachandpur, Assam Rifles organised camps that brought together hundreds of students and villagers to practise yoga by the scenic Khuga Dam and hilly terrain.


Special initiatives included a Free Eye Check-up Camp at Chandel on 21 June benefitting over 150 locals and  an interactive youth engagement events  for 68 students  were also organised at multiple locations to drive home the importance of yoga in the daily life. 


This initiatives of  Assam Rifles not only helped in spreading awareness about the significance of yoga but also strengthened civil-military cooperation in the region .

Assam Rifles celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2025 with overwhelming response from all corners of society across South Arunachal Pradesh. Yog is an essential element of Indian heritage and same was depicted by all ranks and files of Assam Rifles.


Yoga sessions was conducted at Lekhapani, Longding, Chanlang, Jairampur and Miao to include soldiers, families, children and dignitaries from military fraternity as well as civil domain.The occasion was graced by Mr Chowna Mein, Dy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh at Namsai. Worldwide themes of Yog were “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” and “Yoga for Self and Society.”


A total of 5000 participants  actively took part in the celebrations. Yog started with calming breathing practices and progressed in intensity to include Asana and Vyayam.Yog. The teachers emphasised on correct teachniques and procedures to practice Yog as a therapy.


This International Yoga Day will always be remembered and reverred in the glorious history of Assam Rifles.

AssamRifles celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day on 21 June 2025 with widespread participation across Southern Nagaland, showcasing it's enduring commitment to promoting health, discipline and holistic well-being among troops and local communities. The celebrations were held under the golbal themes “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”


The initiative aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a sense of mindfulness among the personnel. The sessions included a series of asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation practices, fostering a holistic approach to health and lifestyle.The celebration emphasized the relevance of yoga in maintaining operational readiness and resilience, particularly in demanding field conditions. A total of approximately 3000 participants across Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, Chumukedima, Peren, Phek and Chieswema including the local youths and population, Assam Rifles personnel, families and school children actively took part in the celebrations.
