FLOODS ...

Mawali village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district recently found itself completely cut off from the rest of the region due to incessant rains and rising river levels that triggered flash floods.

Roads were washed away, bridges rendered unusable, and communication lines snapped—leaving the residents stranded without access to food, medicine, or essential supplies.

In the face of this crisis, the Indian Army swiftly stepped in, demonstrating both compassion and innovation.

With ground routes inaccessible, the Army deployed drones  to deliver vital relief to the flood-affected villagers. High-end logistic drones were pressed into service, flying over submerged fields and broken paths to drop ration packets and emergency supplies directly into the village.

These drones, capable of navigating through difficult terrain and harsh weather, became a lifeline for Mawali. Packed with essentials, each drone sortie ensured that families in the marooned village received the support they desperately needed.

This use of unmanned aerial systems has not only made supply possible in otherwise unreachable locations but has also sped up the response time significantly.

The Indian Army’s initiative underscores a growing shift towards tech-enabled humanitarian response.

By integrating modern drones into relief operations, the Army has shown how innovation can overcome even the harshest challenges posed by nature. Soldiers on the ground coordinated closely with drone operators to monitor needs and adjust supply drops with precision and efficiency.

In a region prone to natural disasters and difficult terrain, this timely action reflects the Army’s commitment to protecting and supporting citizens—not just through force, but through futuristic solutions.

For the people of Mawali, the buzz of drones overhead is more than just a sound—it is a symbol of hope, care, and national solidarity.

The skies may have brought floods, but now they are delivering relief.
