Power Politics : Muslims -- the "divided" people --- who created a new nation in the 20th century :::: But Pakistan is collapsing !!

There are two-three ways to look at Muslims of divided and undivided India and the creation of Pakistan. Frustrated .... that they have remained poor, less educated and also in shambles due to internal feuds, preferring a politics of communal violence and of course for hating India.

Desperation is an accepted norm for Pakistan as well as for Muslims in the sub-continent and that include Indian Muslims too.

Firstly - we may examine from the perspective of 2014 -- when Narendra Modi came to power. We have deliberately not kept the Vajpayee regime in the argument.

Secondly - the 1947 when India was partitioned midwifed by a season of riots and thirdly - 1857.

When I threw up the idea to debate these issues with some social experts and my friends - the quick response was giving a lot of attention to 1857.

Soon you will find the reasons for it. Here, one may talk about Mangal Pandey, who had triggered the revolution or Mutiny. This period marked the collapse of Muslim society and their hegemony vis-a-vis "Power Politics".

Mangal Pandey, mustachioed patriot, was a Hindu but it were the Muslims who faced the wrath of British rage and the last Mughal ruler Bahadur Shah was exiled to Burma/Myanmar.  In no time, the five centuries control of Muslims over the fate of India was lost. Gradually Muslims went in to a retreat.

The first trigger for the collapse of Muslim hegemony came in the form of British decision to impose English for education and also communication.

The fallout was significant. Within four-five decades; the Muslims went from nearly 100 per cent education in Urdu to a mere 20 per cent in English. Between 1858 and 1878 - that is just 20 years - only 57 out of total 3000 graduate students in Calcutta (Kolkata) were Muslims.

That dogmatism and backwardness have prevailed up to this day. One reason Pakistan is collapsing and even then it is depending on terrorism to strike at India shows things have remained in shambles.

Absence of education is an element that leaves a very long term impact.  The Muslims in general and Pakistanis in particular have not understood this.

Quite often this 'unlearning' process is deliberate because it serves the interests of select groups.

Nevertheless, under a process at a later stage two educational institutions had come up. One was the Aligarh Muslim University. And the other one was -- Darul Uloom Deoband.

Soon after 1947, Pakistani leaders realised their new country has issues.

In the post-partition India on the other hand; Muslims make up the predominantly Hindu country’s largest minority group.

For decades, Muslim communities only learned to find problems with others. For the political class - the Congress and the communists and even the caste-based parties such as RJD and Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party - the Muslims have emerged as 'captive voters'.

Here no amount of Modi's developmental works seem to work. In general Muslim vote is not for the BJP.

There were complaints of 'discrimination' -- but some of it were wrong and even fake allegations. They also say Muslims are disproportionately the victims of communal violence.

Then after 2014, complaints were directed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It was propagated that everything about Modi and India's ruling party was against Muslims.

A Bill called CAA was opposed and it was purely over fake issues and worse Indian intellectuals and self-seeking Sickular parties backed such protest. Now it seems most of the protests were backed by finances from overseas.

It was alleged that the Modi Govt was creating 'the power' for himself and his government to render millions of Muslims in India stateless.

The same 'reasons' and India-bashing actually brought Pakistan where it stands today.

The last two elections in Pakistan were marred by glaring irregularities.

Those held in 2018 brought Imran Khan to power but in 2024, Imran was not allowed to be in contest for power.

Imran also became a foe of Pakistan army. Now Khan is exactly where his opponents were a few years ago: in jail.

Tides may turn or may not as well. The larger question is why the military is allowed to choose who gets to run Pakistan.  But no one would dare to point out this. Instead, paradoxically Pak army chief has pushed his country to yet another round of confrontation with Bharat.

Politics has been reduced to something or a stage -- that any Pakistani will find it difficult to survive or thrive in normalcy.

Narendra Modi's political detractors may not appreciate but it is a fact of life in this century that Pakistan’s close allies in the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are now Bharat's key friends and strategic partners.

This also shows India’s growing profile on the global stage. The US is already with India.

True, one huge success story of glories for Moditva is the foreign policy which has made Pakistan almost irrelevant in the calculus of South Asia.

Some say, the Indian foreign policy engine room under Namo understood the "futility" of engaging with Pakistan especially after Pathankot and Uri.

India’s global stature has continued to grow based on its economic power, market forces and diplomatic skills.

Islamabad and its terror hubs and even army are now largely considered a global nuisance(s) and even China is finding it difficult to work with Pakistan.
