ASSAM RIFLES SAVES LIFE OF 2-YEAR-OLD IN A REMOTE KAMJONG VILLAGE THROUGH SWIFT AIR EVACUATION

The episode will continue to inspire deep trust in the force among local communities

In a heart-stirring rescue, Assam Rifles carried out a critical medical evacuation of a two-year-old girl, Miss Chuishut, from the remote village of Grihang in Kamjong district, Manipur, after she accidentally fell into a water tank on early morning of 21 Apr 2025.

The incident occurred at approximately 05:40 AM.

Located in one of the most inaccessible parts of the state. Poorly connected by road and completely cut off by air, the village had little hope for timely medical support. But assistance came with promptness and determination.

On receiving the distress call, Assam Rifles troops and medical personnel rushed to the spot, stabilised the child with first aid and within moments coordinated a military helicopter for evacuation to the Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Imphal.

Despite the logistical challenges, the seamless coordination ensured the child was in expert care within hours of the accident.

At Assam Rifles Military Hospital, Mantripukhari, expert paediatric care ensured the child was brought out of grave danger.

Timely intervention was critical and any delay could have cost her life.

The child’s parents, overwhelmed and in tears of gratitude, said , “We thought we were going to lose her. Assam Rifles gave her back to us”.

This daring and selfless act by Assam Rifles once again underlines the force's role not just as protectors, but as guardians of humanity in the farthest corners of the North East.

Their readiness, even in the most challenging terrain, continues to inspire deep trust among local communities, feel analysts.
