PM Modi and BJP say they are "rectifying historical neglect' by giving due prominence to leaders including Patel whom Nehru-Gandhi dynasty intentionally sidelined

As India's first Home Minister Sardar Valabbhbai Patel must be given all credit for handling 'Post-Partition' challenges.

In the chaotic aftermath of the 1947 partition, Patel worked intensely to manage massive refugee flows, restore communal harmony, and stabilize a vulnerable and the newborn republic.

Prime Minister Modi and the BJP maintain that they are rectifying historical neglect by giving due national prominence to leaders including Patel whom the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty intentionally sidelined.

Patel became the first Deputy Prime Minister and the first Home Minister of India.

His most notable achievement during this period was the integration of over 560 princely states into the Indian Union.

Patel also played a crucial role in formulating India’s constitution and establishing a robust administrative framework for the new nation. His efforts in maintaining internal security and promoting national unity were pivotal during the formative years of independent India.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel passed away on December 15, 1950. His legacy endures through numerous institutions, monuments, and initiatives named in his honour, including the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, unveiled in 2018 in Gujarat. Patel symbolises strength, unity, and steadfast commitment to the nation.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, often referred to as the "Iron Man of India," was born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat.

The National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) in India is celebrated annually on October 31.

The Lotus party highlights that it took decades for leaders like Sardar Patel and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to receive the Bharat Ratna under Congress-led governments, whereas the current administration under Narendra Modi has actively built global monuments and national pilgrimage sites (Panchteerth) to honor them.

Mahatma Gandhi was a man of the masses. After a long time Modi took him out of government files, the ritualistic Rajghat homage and routine Vigyan Bhawan seminars to take him back to the masses – launching a national campaign for clean India, 'Swachh Bharat'.

There is no denying the fact that History would remember Narenndra Modi as the chief minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister who built Patel’s statue.

The 182-metre, Rs.3,000-crore statue, christened the “Statue of Unity”, will remain the world’s tallest until another leader decides something like that. It will remain as a symbol of stealth authored by the BJP from the storehouse of history.

A Tense Courtroom Moment That Changed History

The story takes us back to 1909, in a packed courtroom filled with tension and anticipation. A young lawyer, Vallabhbhai Patel, stands confidently, defending his case with calm precision. His voice is steady, his mind sharp — the epitome of composure. Suddenly, a court clerk approaches quietly and hands him a telegram.

There was an one line message:

“Your wife has passed away.”

In that instant, many would expect an emotional breakdown or a moment of vulnerability. But Patel, known for his steel-like resilience, does something extraordinary. He reads the telegram, folds the paper without showing any emotion, and continues his arguments with the same calm demeanor.  He wins the case.

Narendra Modi paying homage had said a few years back :

"Sardar (chief leader) dedicated his life to weaving the nation into a single thread. The grateful nation can never forget his incomparable contribution to creating an undivided and strong India."
