"The world searches for a way out of one crisis; by then, a new crisis emerges,” says - PM Modi :::: ‘"Govt has authority, but its purpose should not be to make its citizens dependent on the system"

Detailing the cascading shocks defining the 21st century’s third decade, the Prime Minister listed the rapid succession of global pandemics, regional wars, and severe supply chain disruptions affecting critical minerals, energy, and trade.

He painted a stark picture of a world where one crisis barely recedes before another emerges.

“The world searches for a way out of one crisis; by then, a new crisis emerges,” he observed.

Condemning the weaponization of global interconnectedness, the Prime Minister lamented that essential elements like supply chains, energy, minerals, technology, and payment systems are being actively exploited as instruments of pressure and dominance.

He warned that the integration achieved by decades of globalization is rapidly fracturing into dangerous geopolitical chokepoints.

“The roots that globalization created in past decades, when and where they turned into chokepoints, we all are seeing this,” PM noted.

The Prime Minister on Oct 13 addressed the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi.

Acknowledging Michael Bloomberg’s earlier remarks, the Prime Minister celebrated the forum’s unprecedented debut in India.

He praised the platform’s ability to unite the world’s brightest minds to deliberate on key global themes, including the economy, technology, energy, and international affairs. “I congratulate Mr. Bloomberg and his entire team; you have chosen the right place at the right time,” PM remarked.

Addressing the summit’s core focus on emerging global powers, the Prime Minister highlighted a monumental paradigm shift in the 21st century’s third decade, where technology, data, knowledge, and innovation have become the ultimate metrics of power.

He challenged the audience to reconsider the fundamental purpose of this power, questioning whether it should elevate a select few or actively democratize opportunities for millions, emphasizing a shift from controlling to enabling and from competing to collaborating. ‘“Moving beyond the power to succeed to the power to help others succeed, the vision with which I have come here today is Power to Empower,” he asserted.

India is ‘mother of democracy’ where ‘people openly debate’, PM Modi says in global pitch

"The government has authority, but its purpose should not be to make its citizens dependent on the system," the Prime Minister said.

India is the mother of democracy and the people openly debate different issues and discuss different perspectives, PM said,

Several court cases alleging police and mob brutality on protesters, Supreme Court lawyers and journalists, and an expression of concern from the UN.

“India is the mother of democracy. India has over 100 languages, around 80,000 registered newspapers and publications, and more than 1,000 satellite television channels,” the prime minister said at the Bloomberg Economic Forum.
