JOINT OPERATION BY ASSAM RIFLES AND ARMY BOMB DISPOSAL TEAMS FOILS MAJOR TERROR THREAT; DETECTS AND NEUTRALISES 27 IEDS ALONG INDIA-MYANMAR BORDER IN KAMJONG
In a major operational success safeguarding border areas, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Indian Army Bomb Disposal teams, detected and neutralised 27 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the in Kamjong district.
This was reported between October 4th and 7th, 2026, sources said.
Following intelligence inputs on planting of IEDs by the anti-national elements, a joint team of security personnel launched a comprehensive sanitisation operation along the eight-kilometre route connecting Shangkhalok and Pilong villages in Kamjong district.
The search was augmented by specialist Army Bomb Disposal teams and explosive detection dogs. Throughout the operation, the area was cordoned off, and the police and local villagers were kept informed of the safety protocols.

At the end of the search, a total of 27 IEDs were recovered and safely neutalised at the site.
The intelligence-led operation thwarted attempts by inimical elements to disrupt peace, securing the border region and ensuring safe movement for the local population in Kamjong district.
