The popular construction and road making firm owned by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's son M/s Chabou and Kohima was on Feb 5 served with a show cause notice for delay in work implementation.
The show cause notice asked the company to respond within seven days for delay jn works related to Wokha Merapani road.
The notice is served by Chief Engineer Swarai Meru, PWD.
The PWD ministry is held by G Kaito, also belonging to Rio-led NPF.
BJP high command' perhaps most favourite chief minister in north east Rio heads a NPF-BJP dispensation since 2018.
Rio earlier led NDPP, which on Oct 21, 2025 merged with NPF.
The show cause notice means the authorities have been compelled to take such a step against "most blue eyed firm" in the state owing to public pressure.
Incidentally, the development comes within hours President's Rule was revoked in Manipur and a new BJP leader Y Khemchand led ministry was sworn in at Imphal on Feb 4th.
Kechangulie Rio, only son of Chief Minister, heads the firm. The M/s Chabou and Co. is a big time business player in Nagaland and Junior Rio is also president of Nagaland Cricket Association with good network in the national and international sporting circle.
In Manipur's new ministry - NPF legislator L. Dikho, who hails from Mao tribe, was sworn is as a Deputy chief minister on Feb 4, 2026.
