As soon as Kejriwal broke down, a journalist frantically called his videographer, “Kejriwal ro raha hai yaar, tu kahaan reh gaya,” realising they had just missed the footage for their channel.

The Court also pulled up the CBI for building its case through approver statements.

"If such conduct is allowed, it would be a grave violation of the Constitutional principles. The conduct where an accused is granted pardon and then made an approver, his statements used to fill the gaps in the investigation/narrative and make additional people accused is wrong," the judge said.

Special Judge (PC Act) Jitendra Singh passed the order closing the case initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the accused.

"There was no overarching conspiracy or criminal intent in the excise policy," the Court ruled.

The Court added that the prosecution case does not survive judicial scrutiny as the CBI had tried to construct a narrative of conspiracy on the basis of mere conjecture.

No prima facie case was made out against any of the 23 accused.

CBI will approach Delhi High Court, challenging the Rouse Avenue Court judgment discharging AAP leaders.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have been discharged in the Delhi excise policy case, with the court ruling that the CBI failed to prove the charges against them.

The court, flagging lack of evidence against Kejriwal, said serious allegations need to be supported with material, as the attribution of a central conspiratorial role cannot be sustained without evidence.

Public confidence in the office is affected if it is found that the prosecution’s claims were unsupported by material, the court noted.

Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, says, "I would like to thank God today. Arvind ji has spent his life with honesty. But these people (BJP) sent Arvind ji and his associates to jail. I had faith that truth would prevail. I would like to thank all those who stood by us...".

"No one in this world can rise above the power of God. I would also like to thank the judge. Arvind has lived his entire life with honesty, and his only wish is that the country progresses..."
