World must show zero tolerance for terrorism, says Jaishankar even as Indian forces eliminate at least 80 terrorists in three PoK, Pak hideouts

On #OperationSindoor, Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal's father Rajesh Narwal says,

"The Govt of India has taken the right step. They will always remember this strike. This Operation was named aptly. With this action, all 26 families will get justice....".

Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was killed in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar has said in a post on X that the world "must show zero tolerance for terrorism".

He added an image with the words 'Operation Sindoor' - the name India is using to describe Wednesday's strikes against Pakistan.

World must show zero tolerance for terrorism

Two huge strikes were conducted in JeM stronghold Bahawalpur and Muridke, killing an estimated 25–30 terrorists at each site.

In Muridke, the target was Masjid wa Markaz Taiba, the LeT's nerve centre and ideological headquarters, long considered the "terror nursery" of Pakistan.

The image has a black background with the words 'Operation Sindoor' written in white. One of the Os in Sindoor is a round pot filled with vermillion powder worn by married Hindu women in the parting of their hair.

The depiction is being read as a reference to the women who were widowed after their husbands were shot dead by militants in Pahalgam. All the 26 people killed in the attack were men.

Operation Sindoor .... leaves 'enemy' red-faced as well as bleeding

Pakistan caught unawares

Indian forces selected the location for strikes with the intent of targeting top Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar leadership for their role in sponsoring terrorist activities

Mallikarjun Kharge, chief of the main opposition Congress party, says "national unity and solidarity is the need of the hour".

He says that since last month's attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, his party has "categorically stood with the armed forces and the government to take any decisive action against cross-border terror".

Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has also welcomed the "surgical strikes" carried out by India on "terror camps in Pakistan".

Odisha Leader of Opposition and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik says, " I have been informed that the Indian Armed Forces have been successful in the operation against terrorists. I congratulate them with all my heart"

Indian forces carried out the strike as several states including authorities in Delhi and states such as Uttar Pradesh and also Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been directed by the centre for holding security drills for civilians.

The Union Home Ministry had issued an order earlier this week, asking for drills to be conducted across 244 districts in the country with the aim of assessing and enhancing "civil defence mechanisms".

The ministry said the objective was to assess the effectiveness of India's air raid warning systems, control rooms, evacuation plans, crash blackout measures and civil defence services.

The order said the exercise aimed to train civilians and students "to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack". It did not mention Pakistan or last month's attack in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Footage shared by news channels on Tuesday, May 6th,  showed volunteers and officials carrying out rehearsals in different states.

You may find it exciting:

A total of 550 schools across the national capital will also hold safety drills that include the operationalisation of air-raid warning sirens, training civilians on civil-defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a "hostile attack" and cleaning bunkers and trenches.

In New Delhi district, the drills will be held in Khan Market, NDMC office building, Palika Kendra, Charak Palika Hospital, Vasant Vihar, D-6, residential colony, Terminal-3 of IGI Airport and Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Delhi Cantt.
