"Second is the 28 km Chittagong Corridor, from South Tripura till the Bay of Bengal. This corridor, smaller than India’s chicken neck, is the only link between Bangladesh’s economic capital and political capital.
I am only presenting geographical facts that some may tend to forget,"
-- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reminded one and all especially the caretaker regime of Bangladesh.
His missive on social media has gone viral on social media.
He reminded further - "Just like India’s Siliguri Corridor, our neighbouring country is also embedded with two narrow corridors of theirs."
Himanta also said : "To those who habitually threaten India on the “Chicken Neck Corridor”, should note these facts as well:
1️⃣ Bangladesh has two of its own “chicken necks”. Both are far more vulnerable
2️⃣ First is the 80 Km North Bangladesh Corridor- from Dakhin Dinajpur to South West Garo Hills. Any disruption here, can completely isolate the entire Rangpur division from rest of Bangladesh.
3️⃣Second is the 28 km Chittagong Corridor.....".
The remarks came at a time when Bangladesh is in turmoil and the caretaker head in Dhaka, Muhammad Yunus, has come under severe criticism for allegedly selling out the nation to western powers especially the United States. In fact, mother and son duo - former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wajed have separately upped ante against Yunus personally.
#Dictator #Yunus’ politics of vengeance is solely responsible for the present crisis in #Bangladesh
- tweeted Sajeeb Wajed
Sajeeb himself is currently facing multiple corruption charges in Bangladesh.
On Law & Order issue, he said:
"From day one he’s been making excuses for the perpetrators of mob violence, attacks against minorities, false cases against AL (Awami League) members and professionals like , journalists, lawyers, retired judges, civil servants and policemen".
He also accused Yunus of encouraging the "rise of Islamists" in the country.
For her part Sheikh Hasina also in a message said -- "Yunus has seized power with the help of terrorists".
"Now Bangladesh is the reign of those (released) militants," she accused.
