Tharoor likely to be summoned by Rahul Gandhi or maybe given a show cause notice after return from overseas trip

 Sample this quote.

"What has changed in recent years is that the terrorists have also realised they will have a price to pay.

On that, let there be no doubt. When, for the first time, India breached the Line of Control between India and Pakistan to conduct a surgical strike on a terror base, a launchpad - the Uri strike in September 2016. That was already something we had not done before."

Can Rahul Gandhi say this and bring a tectonic shift in Indian politics?

No and never.

This quote from Shashi Tharoor has fetched him a new title "super BJP spokesperson".

The adjective was hurled on him by Congress spokesman Udit Raj, paradoxically a former BJP MP between 2014 and 2019. He was Ram Vilas Paswan protege and hence he got the ticket from Lotus party in 2014.

Since then Udit Raj has been contesting polls but have lost twice -- 2019 and 2024.

Entire Congress leadership and his colleagues are furious at Shashi Tharoor and the former UN official on return from overseas trip may easily get a summon by 'crown prince' or even a formal show cause notice. The grand old party's official line is Tharoor has crossed the 'lakshman rekha'.

Tharoor also stated:

"Even during the Kargil War, we had not crossed the Line of Control; in Uri, we did, and then came the attack in Pulwama in January 2019.

This time, we crossed not only the Line of Control but also the international border, and we struck the terrorist headquarters in Balakot.

This time, we have gone beyond both of those. We have not only gone beyond the Line of Control and the international border. We have struck at the Punjabi heartland of Pakistan by hitting terror bases, training centres, terror headquarters in nine places".

The Congress is unnerved. First, the party was uncomfortable in Tharoor leading a delegation. They wanted more sycophant variety. Tharoor with his independent mind was not acceptable.

Secondly, the Congress now thinks Tharoor is defending the Modi government much better than any run of the mill BJP spokesperson. Hence, the frustration is coming out.

It is altogether another chapter that even other Opposition MPs - Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM), Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma (both Congress), Priyanka Charurdevdi (Shiv Sena of UBT) and Kanimozhi of DMK are also presenting the government of India's stance effectively.

Another spokesman Pawan Khera tagged Tharoor him in a video in which former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says that many surgical strikes were conducted during the UPA era.

While Mr Khera just added a "CC" for the former Minister, the message was clear: the Congress is not happy.

The Congress's stated position has been that six surgical strikes were conducted during the UPA regime, but those were never publicised.

And so, Tharoor is telling something else.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also launched a sharp and personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he had compromised India’s honour by agreeing to pause military action against Pakistan during the recent Operation Sindoor.

Manish Tewwari said as far as his knowledge goes the ceasefire came into being only after Pakistani DGMO had called his Indian counterpart.
