“What Shashi Tharoor says is his personal opinion," Congress distances itself from the four-time MP's remarks on Modi Govt and 'Operation Sindoor'

“What Shashi Tharoor says is his personal opinion. He speaks for himself and not for the Congress party,” said Jairam Ramesh.

What is important to note here that Jai(rahim) Ramesh (that's a pun by the blogger as a satire) does not speak for himself.

He speaks for the party boss - that is Rahul Gandhi.

Even Mallikarjun Kharge may not be so lucky that Shri Ramesh will speak for him. The key advisor of Rahul's Bharat Jodo Yatra is quite powetful/influential these days in the party.

Jairam has track record of insulting Hindus even as a Minister. He had the audacity to say even toilets are cleaner than some of the temple areas and even his mother did not approve of his statement.

Jairam also has the track record of harming Congress interests immensely in Andhra Pradesh. Get in touch with another senior Congress leader Kishore Chandra Deo -he can share details.

But all these do not matter. Rahul Gandhi matters and hence two Rajya Sabha men K C Venugopal and Jairam are very influential in Congress.

Blogger - 'never' a friend/loyalist of Jairam Ramesh

Venugopal brought in Jai-rahim closer to Rahul apparently. K C wants to become next Kerala CM if the Marxists are ousted.

Even Shashi Tharoor has been clamouring for such high post after 2026 assembly elections.

Politicians are realists. Most Congress leaders know they cannot come to power in Delhi with the Moditva tsunami gaining strength from srength. So chief ministership is a fantastic idea.

Hence K C-Tharoor contest is evident. There are two other Congress leaders also ambitious. So -- ground is being to ensure first of all stall Tharoor's chances. Actually before he joins BJP; some of his Congress colleagues want him to do so. Tharoor says he never thought about that.

He also says by that logic (applauding Operation Sindoor) even Asaduddin Owaisi should join BJP.

But as of now it is true three well known opposition voices - Tharoor and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and also Owaisi are with the government as far as fighting the evil of terrorism and Pakistan is concerned.

Jairam was asked to talk to Tharoor and reportedly there were some arguments. Tharoor also cut short his visit as he had travel somewhere.

Jairam also 'traveled' -- probably to the dynastic-yet-democratic bosses.

Congress sources say the party leadership issued a “clear message” to Tharoor via Jairam that this was not a moment for individual interpretations of what Donald Trump said and what Narendra Modi did not say.

The Congress needs to "amplify" a typical Modi-bashing line and try to steal the credit Namo even otherwise would get for Operation Sindoor. A Muslim-appeasing and Pakistan-indulging party never could something like that even as 26/11 had provided an opportunity.

“What Shashi Tharoor says is his personal opinion. He speaks for himself and not for the Congress party,” Jairam was categorical.

Whether any 'talented' Congress leader would leave the party -- like Jyotidaditya Scindia - does not matter to Ramesh. Shri Ramesh needs extension in Rajya Sabha when the time comes.

On Monday, Tharoor lashed out at Donald Trump’s claim that his administration helped de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan.

He said Trump’s assertion “offers Pakistan a negotiating framework which it certainly has not earned,” and declared, “India will never negotiate with a terrorist gun pointed at its head.”

Tharoor also warned that Trump’s framing of events “internationalises” the Kashmir issue—something India has consistently rejected.

So there is a possibility of Shashi Tharoor also being opted out of the grand old party.

The Congress says Shashi Tharoor has "crossed the Lakshman Rekha" with his recent statements. Tharoor’s remarks had diverged from the Congress's official stand on Trump taking all credit for the ceasefire.

As for his conduct/ by giving statements in media that defies Congress line, Tharoor has defended his stance.

He also pointed out Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has been summoned by the Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting on External Affairs for its meet on May 19.

Of course Tharoor is the chairman of the panel besides being a very popular Congress leader.

  1. I am currently in the holy town of Akkalkot, Solapur, the seat of Shri Swami Samarth, considered avatar of lord Dattatraya. It is also close to the town of Pandharpur, the seat of lord Vitthal, an avatar of God Vishnu. At both the temples I realized what Jairam Ramesh said is absolutely right. One is made to remove shoes/footwear, which is understandable. I walked with my socks on. The way to darshan of deities was so dirty, people spit on the way, pan masala spit colour the path red, I discarded my two socks. Actually the toilet at the lodge I stayed was very clean. Floor was dry, 24 hour water. Modi effect of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan was clearly seen. Mind you I stayed in a lodge not hotel. I am sure Jairam Ramesh was comparing areas around templeAs he visited to the toilets of good hotels he obviously stayed at. - Aquaris Kirti
