"Situation in Myanmar remains a cause of concern....", says MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said:

“Lectures by those who have a limited understanding of India’s pluralistic traditions and the region’s post-partition history are best not attempted. Partners and well-wishers of India should welcome the intent with which this step has been taken.”

“The CAA is about giving citizenship, not about taking away citizenship, so this must be underlined. It addresses the issue of statelessness, provides human dignity, and supports human rights.

"As regards the US State Department’s statement on the implementation of CAA, and there have been comments made by several others, we are of the view that it is misplaced, misinformed, and unwarranted,” Jaiswal said.

On Myanmar situation,

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal says, "We had issued an advisory for the Rakhine State where the situation there is very delicate, the security situation has deteriorated. We told all Indian nationals to evacuate themselves and move away from there and we also told our nationals who are there or otherwise from anywhere else not to travel to that part.

The situation in Myanmar remains a cause of concern because of the deterioration in the security situation. There is a lot of fighting happening there, and the security situation is not conducive, but we call upon all sides.

We want peace and stability in the country, we want constructive dialogue in the country, and we want inclusive federal democracy to be established through dialogue and through constructive engagement..."

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal says, "We are pressing very hard with the Russian authorities for early discharge of our people who are stuck there. Last time we told you that there were 20 people there who approached us. We also have two people who passed away.

"On that, I have an update. The paperwork of their mortal remains has been done. The funeral agency, which we have engaged, has handed over the bodies. We are in touch with the family. We are also in touch with the Russian authorities. And hopefully, we will have the mortal remains in India by the end of this week, that is on Sunday or thereabout. So hopefully, on the 16th or 17th, they'll be here and then handed over to the family. So that is the update on Russia."

Don of Sandeshkhali

Sandeshkhali incident

Partha Biswas, Director of the Center for SC/ST Support and Research says, "They (victims) are being identified and threatened that when the media would not be around them and Sheikh Shahjahan would return, what would happen to them...In 2003, Sheikh Shahjahan joined the CPI(M)...In 2013, he joined the TMC.

His atrocities have been going on for 8-10 years now. As his political power and influence grew there, the atrocities and torture expanded too...This is not a matter of just one day."

On CAA, BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa says,

-- "...A few political parties are spreading hatred against us. Hindus and Sikhs from Afghanistan have been meeting us since the day before...that hatred is being spread among them and they are being called rapists, that refugees will cause riots and tensions if they stay in Delhi, that they will snatch away employment opportunities of people.

"Arvind Kejriwal is attempting to spread hatred against Sikhs and we brought this to the cognisance of the Election Commission...The same Arvind Kejriwal had spoken about settling Rohingyas here...Just for electoral politics and getting the votes of a particular community, hatred is being spread and our community is being defamed..."

"We have told the Commission that action should be taken against him, his social media handles be stopped and TV channels who are running this should be directed to stop the broadcast. We have also demanded strict action against Arvind Kejriwal who is defaming us."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says, "The kind of enthusiasm I have witnessed, I can guarantee that the NDA is going to win all the 14 seats here. People are fed up with the corruption and anarchy of the state govt...

The Election Commission has submitted the electoral bonds list, if they (Congress) have some objection, they should tell or go to court. People of the country are now socially and politically aware and no one can fool them with some so-called allegations... NRC is not a big thing but a register of the Indian citizens.

"CAA was passed in the parliament, years back to grant citizenship to those who are persecuted on religious grounds. A Muslim cannot be persecuted in Pakistan, still, if someone wants to have Indian citizenship, there is a process for that too, no one is prohibited. Indian Muslims have nothing to worry about. We do politics based on justice and humanity and not caste, religion or region."

After joining the BJP, Dibyendu Adhikari says, "It is a good day for me as I am joining the BJP family today...What happened in Sandeshkhali, especially against women, is not an issue of Bengal alone but that of the entire country. BJP reached the victims first, no other political party could do it. People had a lot of expectations with Bengal CM as she too is a woman...

In Bengal, women don't have the respect that they should have. There is no rule of law there...Our job would be to work as a BJP worker and work on the ground to take the party forward and get 400 plus seats for PM Modi...".

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar says,

"I look forward to it. Obviously, it's a celebration of democracy. This election is ensuing. It is a time for the people of India to look at the last ten years of what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered, how deeply he has transformed our country,

how he has created a launch pad for India to become a developed nation, and to compare it with the ten years of the Congress, UPA in the centre and to compare it with the left government in Kerala, which is busy running to the Supreme Court asking to be bailed out.

So the people of India will vote. The people of Thiruvananthapuram will vote. The people of Kerala will vote. And I look forward to engaging with them, discussing the future of Thiruvananthapuram, discussing, thinking the past of Thiruvananthapuram, and hopefully being given an opportunity of taking it forward..."
