Will China 'bhakti' backfire on the Maldives President Muizzu ? ::::::: 'CAA to be implemented across India in 7 days'

Will China 'bhakti' backfire on the Maldives President Muizzu ?

The Maldives opposition is now ready to bring impeachment motion against President Muizzu. The Maldivian opposition party has gathered 'enough signatures' to initiate an impeachment motion against President Mohamed Muizzu.

The main opposition party in the Maldives, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has collected enough signatures needed to initiate a no-confidence motion to launch impeachment proceedings against the Mohamed Muizzu government. The impeachment motion against the pro-China President is likely to be submitted to the parliament soon.

This development comes a day after the Maldivian Parliament witnessed chaos on Sunday when lawmakers came to blows, disrupting a special session convened to seek parliamentary approval for Muizzu's cabinet ministers. MPs from the ruling alliance consisting of the People’s National Congress (PNC) and the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) clashed with the MDP.

'CAA to be implemented across India in 7 days': Union Minister and BJP's Bengal lawmaker's big 'guarantee'

( The Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) was passed by Parliament in December 2019. President Ramnath Kovind, gave his assent to the bill, and it became a law aimed at providing Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants who faced religious persecution in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The contentious Citizenship Amendment Act saw massive protests in several parts of the country. There were sit-ins at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and protest gatherings in Guwahati, Assam. All the protests fizzled out during the Covid-induced restrictions and lockdowns. )

BJP lawmaker from West Bengal and Union Minister Shantanu Thakur has claimed that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act will be implemented across India within the next seven days.

He told an impressive gathering in the South 24 Parganas.

"I can guarantee that in the next seven days, not just in West Bengal, but the CAA will be implemented across India," Thakur said in Bengali while addressing a public gathering in Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas in Bengal.

"This government (Under Mamata Banerjee) tells you that if you have a voter and an Aadhaar card, you're a citizen of this country and can register your votes. If that is the case, then why do I hear that thousands of people here have been deprived of their right to vote? The Chief Minister has to answer why they have been deprived," the BJP leader said.

Earlier this month in a smart move, the BJP fielded Assam Chief Minister and BJP's convener for North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) to give the CAA implementation process a process.

The maximum opposition to CAA came from Assam and other north eastern states. The CAA campaign by opposition Congess, communists and various regional parties has also been marred by extreme disinformation drive. The talks about CAA seeking to disenfranchise citizens is totally non sense.

When Mamata opposes CAA, I am asked 'Are you a bigger Bengali than West Bengal Chief Minister', Himanta Biswa Sarma said during his Kolkata visit.

"Hindu refugees need a permanent address", says Assam Chief Minister.

"BJP as a party, we are always in support of the Citizens Amendment Act (CAA)," BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in Kolkata, adding there is "no doubt or second thought about it".

"....Opposition in Assam ask me why you (Assam CM) are supporting CAA", he said adding, when "Mamata Banerjee oppose CAA, in Assam I come at the receiving end. I can never become a more (or a bigger) Bengali than Mamata Banerjee".

"People ask us....if Mamata Banerjee is opposing CAA, why you are supporting it.....Are you a bigger Bengali than Mamata".

"In Assam people have some reservations against it...and that will remain. But we have to stand for those Hindus (who are shunted out from neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh or Pakistan). Sometime, I agree, this will harm me politically in Assam. But this is a humanitarian issue....

Bharat/India has a responsibility towards the Hindu migrants. We have to discharge that. Home Minister (Amit Shah) will decide when it has to be or it will be notified".

"But it is true, the BJP is committed towards CAA. In Assam, we may pay political price also...But we have not changed our stand".

"We have suffered quite a few important leaders...we have suffered in Assam. It cost us even a few seats in the elections. There were some disturbances also; but we have not changed our stand".

CAA may be continue to be an issue in Nagaland as former Rajya Sabha member K G Kenye, who supported the Bill in 2019, is now Power Minister in the NDPP-BJP dispensation headed by Neiphiu Rio.

'Chizami voters' in Phek district may again unwittingly find space in international media in the run up to the 2024 polls.

Real game is 42 seats in West Bengal and hence Kenye or politicians such as Kevechutso Doulo, who had to quit BJP in 2023, to contest on LJP (Ram Bilas) ticket are only 'negligible' players.

"Sir, I rise to support the amended Citizenship Bill of 2019 and I will tell this House why...," thus spoke K G Kenye in Rajya Sabha on Dec 11, 2019.

Kenye is now a NDPP member candidate from Chizami assembly segment in Phek district, a hardocre regional bastion. He is a key member of the Rio cabinet handling the prized portfolio of Power.

On November 29, 2023, after almost three years of its passage, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP-led central government would implement the CAA and "no one can stop it".

The Home Minister Shah also attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over appeasement, infiltration, corruption and political violence.

Other than the infrequent remarks, nothing much was seen moving on the CAA until this month. Also, though the overarching nature of the law was known, the rules weren't notified.

Reports also say that the rules for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act of 2019 were ready with the central government and would be notified "much before" the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Blow to Farooq Abdullah as several party leaders join BJP in Jammu & Kashmir

Several top leaders of Farooq Abdullah's National Conference, including Sanjeev Khajuria, joined the BJP and praised the Narendra Modi government's welfare schemes and the Prime Minister's global leadership.

The BJP state unit chief also stated that opposition parties formed the INDIA bloc to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi from doing welfare works, "but their ill-alliance has failed now due to ever-growing popularity of PM Modi".

The BJP's contributions and achievements in health care, education, infrastructure building and socio-economic development are historic, he noted.

In a separate event, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta urged workers to strengthen the party at the booth level to assure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
