THE LATE CAPT N KENGURUSE, MVC, MEMORIAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 






The highly anticipated final match of the Late Capt N Kenguruse, MVC, Memorial Football Tournament 2023 being organised by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Spear Corps took place on 09 Nov 23 at IG stadium, Kohima. 


The thrilling event witnessed two exceptional teams, Tehok FC, Mon & Western Sumi Sports Association, Niuland battling it out for the coveted championship title in front of an electrified audience.








The tournament, which began on 01 Nov saw 16 teams from across Nagaland competing fiercely in a display of exceptional sportsmanship, skill, and determination. The journey to the final was marked by intense matches, showcasing the finest talent in the region.


The pinnacle of the tournament was reached when Tehok FC, Mon faced off Western Sumi Sports Association, Nuiland team demonstrating impeccable teamwork and tactical prowess. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the players left no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory.


Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, IGAR/GoC Nagaland graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence elevated the excitement and fervor of the spectators, inspiring both players and fans alike.


He commended the spirit and dedication of all the participating teams, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork in nurturing young talent. He also expressed his appreciation for the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army who made the tournament a resounding success.


After a heart-pounding match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Tehok FC, Mon emerged victorious 2-1, securing the title of 7th Kenguruse Football Tournament Champions for 2023. 


The event concluded with a grand award ceremony, where the winners were presented with the prestigious trophy and a cash prize worth Rs 2 Lakh, along with individual awards recognizing outstanding players and coaches beside cash prizes worth Rs. 4,25,000.
