A R Antulay's 'misadventurism' on 26/11 :::: Congress party's saga of Muslim appeasement

(Dr Manmohan Singh, former PM, had justified the inaction of his government...

"There was too much pressure on me on that time, I resisted that pressure and I think the decisions that I and our government took was balanced and the right decision". )

The Congress party is eyeing the revival journey. But the grand old party often forget their past or they take things and worse the people of this country for granted. They forget that post-26/11 they left Pakistan virtually go scot free.  They also played the Muslim appeasement card to its hilt and even tried to demean the Hindu community.

The confusion of a Muslim mind, something I often raise comes into focus as regard the "most unwarranted" statement made by the then Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay. Dr Manmohan Singh had made it worse by simply stating, "to err is human".

Antulay had raised the bogey of Hindu terror. He had also said that the Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai city on 26/11 had no reason to kill top cop Hemant Karkare.

The chief of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), Maharashtra, Karkare was killed by Lashqar terrorists on 26th Nov Mumbai siege night. Antulay had implied that Karkare was killed because he was pursuing investinations against Hindu terror suspects for Malegaon blasts. This was laughable; and also added insults to the memories of a slain police official.

What has always mattered most for Congress party is the votes, and despite 26/11, what the party was more interested was in the Muslim votes !! Do the Muslims themselves and the self-promoting protagonists who want to be seen as 'champions' of their cause need to be told that such attitudes have hardly helped the community. The confrontation line adopted by Muslims against majority Hindus on various issues have only achieved in providing oxygen to the Hindu fundamentalist forces?

Even in the context of rise of Narendra Modi up the political leader; such approaches have been largely responsible. "The more the secularists of India and their foreign backers hit out at Modi as a tainted leader, the more Modi fell back on his identification (politics)," wrote Subrata K Mitra of Heldelberg University, Germany in his 'Foreword' for my book 'Godhra - Journey of a Prime Minister' (2018 publication).

(There were media reports that Rahul Gandhi went partying at a farmhouse till 5 in the morning on Delhi’s outskirts)

In fact, he stated that, "Godhra, which was meant to be the end of a career actually became the turning point, and set Modi on a course that eventually led to his current position as Prime Minister of the country".

Karkare and four Brave Heroes who were killed on the Tragic Day

Four others:
Tukaram Gopal Omble: Asst. Sub-inspector

Ashok Kamte: Additional Commissioner of Police

Vijay Salaskar: Senior Police Inspector and encounter specialist

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan: National Security Guards (NSG) commando

Talking about NSG commando Maj Unnikrishnan's death one must mention he lost his life while fighting with Pakistani terrorists who had taken the Taj Mahal Palace. The live coverage of his movements by TV channels unfortunately led to his death. There were more names of 26/11 bravehearts – Havaldar Gajender Singh, Nagappa R Mahale, Kishore K. Shinde, Sanjay Govilkar, Sunil Kumar Yadav among others.

More on Congress !!

* Congress party may not remember something called 1984 anti-Sikh carnage following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. While Rajiv Gandhi had almost justified the riots saying, "the earth shakes when tree falls" and in the subsequent polls, the Congress party's tally had crossed the landmark 400.

Under Sonia-Sitaram Kesri dispensation in 1996 while 'accused' HKL Bhagat was not given ticket; Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar remained Congress nominees even in subsequent polls. Tytler also became the Minister for Overseas Affairs under Dr Manmohan Singh in 2004.

These perhaps lead us to debate on Babri Masjid and Ram temple dispute. One must say, little did Muslims realise that it was an emotive issue and in 2019, they lost the legal battle too.

Now, Ram temple is a reality !! One should not forget the Congress was in power in 1992 and P V Narasimha Rao as PM and S B Chavan as the Home Minister did precisely little to save the structure even as the BJP had a pro-active Ram Bhakt chief minister in Kalyan Singh in Lucknow.

The Congress wants to remain so-called 'secular' and continue to get Muslim votes. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi wants to present himself as a Brahmin with 'sacred thread'. The Congress leaders say they should also be invited for Jan 22, 2024, Ram temple inauguration. In Madhya Pradesh polls, the grand old party was more busy wooing the Hindu electorate and fielded only two Muslim candidates.
