Politics of Sadistic pleasures : Rahul Gandhi calls PM ‘pickpocket’ and ‘panauti (bad omen)' :: Mamata calls Modi 'paapi (sinner)' :::

For Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, the 'sadistic' pleasure they derive in giving 'gaali' to Narendra Modi and showing disrespect to the Prime Minister by abusing him seems far more important than winning elections!

The latest episode is calling him 'Panauti -- bad luck or bad omen'. The Congress party is yet to learn any lesson. For them getting humbled in polls seem okay but they do not want to miss any chance to abuse Modi. No less than Sonia Gandhi started it in 2007 when she called 'Maut Ka Saudagar (Merchant of Death)'.

This phrase was more like a Bollywood film title and was in reference to 'encounter killing in Gujarat'. Modi, then the state Chief Minister, had given a suitable spin and charged the Congress chief of abusing the entire Gujarat state. Modi's argument being entire state of Gujarat is known by its tradition of business and trades. The BJP could win the 2007 assembly polls --- considered one of the toughest battles Modi had to face.

Modi had turned the table in 2007; and countered saying, "Soniaben has insulted five crore Gujaratis". All this in a state where entrepreneurship and business are virtues! He not only won the 2007 assembly polls.... the journey towards bigger dream could begin.

Now, Rahul Gandhi has kicked off the 'Panauti (bad omen)' debate. Little did the Congress mascot and the former president realise that he could be held accountable for making such a statement which exposed the lack of scientific temperament in today's era. Now this issue has forced Rahul to face the EC summons. In all likelihood, he could avoid attending to the summons on Nov 25 -- coincidentally the day when Rajasthan goes to the polls. On a number of occasions earlier, the Congress has paid heavy price for making personal and below the belt charges and abuses against Narendra Modi. In 2017 Gujarat assembly polls were yet another round of excited battles and Mani Shankar Aiyer used the term 'neech (lowly)' for Indian Prime Minister and the result was practically tilted since then.

The Congress did not learn any lesson and most of the times the media, the 'select' Congress-friendly journalists and a section of Sickularism fans have encouraged the grand old party and its leader Rahul to use such harsh words. In 2019 polls, Rahul thought he was being a genius and he uttered, 'desh ka Chowkidar chor hae' in reference to Rafale and it had boomeranged in the end.

In a historic mandate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a second term in 2019 to run the world's largest democracy. Modi is the first prime minister since 1971 to return to power with an absolute majority. He is the third one to do so after the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi. In the elections that year, Modi's pro-Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) garnered 303 seats while with his allies it has 353 seats in the 545-member Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament.

The BJP's success was directly linked Congress debacle. For the second time in row, it failed to win even ten percent of all seats in Lok Sabha.

In April 2023, Modi said that the Congress had hurled as many as 91 different types of abuse towards him, including ‘Chowkidar chor hai’.

"The Congress hates everyone who speaks about the common man, who brings out their corruption, who attacks their politics of selfishness. Congress's hate against such people will become permanent. In this election too, the Congress once again has started abusing me," PM Modi said.

One allegation or interpretation is that Rahul's 'panauti' remark came within hours of ED taking control of 'National Herald' properties worth Rs 752 crores. An unnerved crown prince ventilated his anguish in a manner that could prove costly electorally.  In 2022, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra cited reports of Karnataka Congress leader V S Ugrappa calling Modi "Bhasmasur", a demon in Indian mythology.

He also noted that it comes close on the heels of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge throwing "Ravan" barb at the prime minister.

Citing US President Joe Biden's statement that he stood with his "friend" Modi as India took over the G-20 presidency (2022), Patra had said on one hand the world stands with the Prime Minister and on the other, the Congress uses such language for him.

Rahul Gandhi gets EC notice for calling PM ‘pickpocket’ and ‘panauti (bad omen)' :: Mamata calls Modi 'paapi (sinner)'

The Election Commission (EC) on Nov 23, 2023 issued a showcause notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “panauti Modi” (bad luck Modi) and for comparing him to a “pickpocket (jeb katra)”.

“It is alleged that comparing a prime minister to a ‘jaibkatra’ (pickpocket) and using the word ‘panauti’ is unbecoming of a very senior leader of national political party.

Further, the allegation of grant of waivers of Rs 14,00,000 crore for the past nine years, is asserted by the BJP, as not borne out on facts," the poll panel said in a statement.

Rahul Gandhi has been asked to appear before the Election Commission on November 25. Incidentally, Rajasthan goes to the polling on Nov 25.

“Panauti... Panauti... Panauti... our boys were well on their way to winning the world cup but Panauti made them lose... the people of this country know,” Gandhi said at a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan on Tuesday.

Addressing a poll rally in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, he said,"The pickpocket never comes alone, there are three people. One comes from the front, one from the back and one from the distance... Prime Minister Narendra Modi's job is to divert your attention.

He comes on TV from the front and distracts the public by raising topics of Hindu-Muslim, demonetization, and GST. Meanwhile, Adani comes from behind and takes the money".

The BJP in its complaint had said,“Calling any person for that instance a Jaibkatra not only amounts to vicious abuse and personal attack but also a character assassination of that person against whom such remark has been made with a clear intent to harm his reputation and mislead the public."

Mamata Banerjee echoes Rahul Gandhi’s ‘panauti’ barb against Modi, calls the Prime Minister ‘paapi’

The mask 'Muhabbat ki Dukan' slips !!

On a day the Election Commission of India issued a show cause notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his ‘panauti’ barb on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his colleague in the INDIA Opposition bloc, Mamata Banerjee echoed the tone to call the top BJP leader a “Papisthya” (sinner), without naming him while perceptively also tagging home minister Amit Shah under the same adjective.

“If India played the (ICC men’s world cup) finals at the Eden Gardens or at the Wankhede stadium (in Mumbai), we would have won,” Banerjee said at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Calcutta on Thursday while addressing a political meeting of party workers and leaders.

“Our boys were playing so well. They were winning every match. But the moment the sinners landed up at the stadium, the team fell flat,” she declared. “That’s the result of trying to act extra-clever,” she added.

“As the saying goes, sins don’t spare even your own father,” West Bengal chief minister continued with her verbal punches aimed at the BJP top brass.
