"National Herald scam .... reflects a new low in Indian Democracy," says BJP :: "Shareholders are now owners", says Sibal

"...The Congress party always say that they worked in the fight of the freedom movement... First, they appropriated the freedom movement to their family. On that basis, the family started the 'Badshahat'. The whole story of the 'National Herald' says that this family not only controls the legacy of the freedom movement and party but also controls the property legacy and makes it their personal property," said BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad.

"... There are newspapers, shares, and property related to the freedom struggle, and that is also their property......New low in the democracy of India".

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has issued an order on Nov 21, 2023 to provisionally attach properties worth Rs. 751.9 Crore in a money-laundering case investigated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 against Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young Indian.

Independent (supported by Samajwadi Party) Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal says, "...ED should know what the law says... Properties are owned by companies. Shareholders do not own properties... To say that they( Young Indian) became owners of the assets of Rs 752 crore of  AJL is wrong on the basis of law... Shareholders do not become owners... Whose breach of trust occurred? ... Tell us which law says that shareholders become owners of assets..."

Why were Gandhis interested in AJL?  Why did Congress give funds to AJL?

ED attaches assets worth Rs 752 crore belonging to AJL and Young Indian in its money laundering probe.

The attached property includes the 'National Herald' building in Delhi, AJL House in Mumbai & Nehru Bhawan in Lucknow.

Another BJP leader Mahesh Jethmalani joins the debate.

"....among them Mallikarjun Kharge ( was he elevated  to  the post of President of the INC for his collaboration with the Gandhis in their criminal enterprise?) These properties are without doubt the proceeds of crime and in truth ought to have been attached immediately after the entire hierarchy of courts - right up to the Supreme Court - had rejected petitions by the accused persons praying that the case against them be quashed," says Mahesh Jethmalani.

"ED should now fast track the trial against the accused persons under the PMLA for money laundering and secure their convictions , the case being a cast iron one."

"At long last the Enforcement Directorate has finally acted in the pending National Herald case and attached immoveable properties worth Rs 752 crores of prime real estate located in several cities in India misappropriated and converted to their own use by entities effectively owned by #Sonia and #RahulGandhi   and controlled by them and their trusted minions...".
