PM Modi makes blistering attack on Congress chief Kharge; "When remote works, he curses Sanatan Dharma, and when free, he remembers Pandavas"

"Once Congress Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh used to operate throw remote control, and now Congress President (Mallikarjun Kharge) is following that remote control tradition....," PM Modi made a blistering attack on Congress chief .

"Congress President is among the senior most leaders....he is also a good friend of mine (Mere achhey Mitra bhi hae)...But today he is in a pitiable condition....They have reduced him to nothing....He (Kharge) cannot do anything," PM Modi said.

"He is Congress president only by name....But I often find him in right mood and rhythm and when the remote does not work due to connectivity and other factors; then he ends up saying something good. I have read somewhere, yesterday, he remembered Pandavas. When remote works, he curses Sanatan; but remote did not work, yesterday he remembered Pandavas (of Mahabharat)," the Prime Minister said adding, "that means he remembered Sanatan".

"He also said, there are five Pandavas in the BJP.....See, when he speaks the truth; such things come out of his mouth. We are proud, we are following the foot steps of five Pandavas," Mr Modi said. "Is sey bada garv kya ho sakta hae".

The Prime Minister actually made a smart use of his oratory and tried to turn the table on Kharge himself.  It is worth mentioning that on Tuesday, Nov 7, Kharge had slammed BJP by saying that the three central agencies of the ED, CBI and Income Tax along with Prime Minister Modi and sitting Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were "panch Pandavas" against whom his party was fighting.

Of course, the Congress president tried to score a point as with elections taking place in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh, the ED has already embarrassed the Congress party and chief minister Bhupesh Baghel. The probe agency has claimed that CM Baghel has been paid a 'protection money' of Rs 508 crore by the owner of Mahadev App.

"Congress has one candidate (per constituency), but the BJP has four. There is a (party) candidate who is visible, but there are three others who are invisible....ED, which is campaigning like a star campaigner, like Prime Minister Narendra Modi does. A second candidate is the CBI, which also goes after the (rival) candidates to weaken them, and a third is the Income Tax," Kharge had said at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

A fierce electoral battle is on cards in the central Indian state where BJP is in power since 2003. Incumbent CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is in office since 2005 November barring 15 months between December 2018 and March 2020, when Congress leader Kamalnath headed the government. As expected, the Congress is now desperate to wrest the power back from the saffron party and on the other hand, BJP too is more than keen to retain hold in the key state.

The BJP's and Congress party's performance in five assembly polls including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will be crucial in the context of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
