Modi says, "These five years were about reform, perform and transform in the country :::: ....Last working session of 17th Lok Sabha

In Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi says, "These five years were about reform, perform and transform in the country."

It is very rare that both reform and perform take place and we can see transformation right in front of our eyes...The country is experiencing this through the 17th Lok Sabha and I firmly believe that the country will continue to bless the 17th Lok Sabha."

".....Our heads should go in shame..."

On the Ram Temple resolution to be presented in the Parliament today, Union Minister Anurag Thakur says "Ram Mandir was, is and will always be the centre of faith for us, but those people who used to raise questions that BJP says Lord Ram will come but are not telling us the date...we announced the date and constructed Ram Mandir...".

BJP fields Baghpat MP, Satya Pal Singh, a former Mumbai supercop.

Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday slammed the Opposition for disrupting Parliamentary proceedings during a discussion on the Bharat Ratna award for former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

A visibly upset Dhankhar was seen trying to maintain order in the house, asking Opposition members to calm down as he asked Congress leader Jairam Ramesh: "Why are you shouting like a commando?"

Earlier in the proceedings, Opposition raised objections as RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary was allowed to speak about his grandfather being honoured with Bharat Ratna Award by VP Dhankar.  After the objections, Dhankar called out Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge, and stated: "Either control your people or rise and address the house."

Vocal RS chairman Dhankhar said:  "You virtually insulted Chaudhary Charan Singh, you insulted his legacy. You had no time for Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh.

You are hurting every farmer in the country by creating such an environment inside the House on the issue of Chaudhary Charan Singh. Our heads should go in shame..."

"Don't use this language. I will not tolerate insult to Chaudhary Charan Singh. He stands for impeccable public life, unimpeachable integrity, and commitment to farmers...I have seen with my eyes, ruckus, chaos, condemnation, shouting and sloganeering...", Dhankhar said.

Leader of the House and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also slammed for what he said, not showing enough respect to P V Narasimha Rao.

"He served as PM for five years and prior to that served the country in various capacitis for 60 years....The only problem was there was no Gandhi or Nehru surname...A party that did not show enough respect to Rao on his death, will never understand the importance of Rao's contributions," Goyal said.

Lashing out heavily on Congress first dynasty's culture of honouring themselves, he said the Congress leaders in the past were busy getting the awards themselves.

Nehru was honoured Bharat Ratna in 1955 when he was in office. Similarly, Indira Gandhi got the award in 1971 when she too was India's Prime Minister.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar speaks on sharing the news of former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh getting conferred with the Bharat Ratna, with Rajya Sabha members

He tells media:  "Personally, there can be no bigger achievement than this for me that while being the Vice President of India and a farmer's son, when I received the knowledge of it, without wasting any time, I shared it with the members of the Rajya Sabha.

I am overwhelmed with the welcome it received in the House by all sections..."

When asked about him joining NDA, RLD MP Jayant Chaudhary says, "After it was announced that Bharat Ratna will be given (to Chaudhary Charan Singh), my emotions were attached...What will be our next step & how we will be contesting the elections-  these questions will be answered at that time...". Jayant is grand son of former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh.
