('White Paper on Indian Economy', tabled by FM Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha reads
- The coal scam shook the conscience of the nation. Before 2014, the allocation of coal blocks was done on an arbitrary basis ....The coal sector was excluded from competition and transparency)
BJP IT cell chief, Amit Malviya, shared a gazette notification, showing the inclusion of the 'Modh Ghanchi' caste under the OBC ambit in 1999.
In reference to Congress Rahul Gandhi's statement, BJP's IT cell wrote: "This is a blatant lie. PM Narendra Modi's caste was notified as an OBC on Oct 27, 1999, a full 2 years BEFORE he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The entire Nehru-Gandhi family, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, have been against OBCs."
BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Has this become Rahul Gandhi’s level? The poor people, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Communities of our country considered Narendra Modi their leader.
"The future of the Congress party is in darkness... Rahul Gandhi should stop making these shameful and baseless statements.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in Odisha's Jharsuguda that : "PM Modi was not born in the OBC category. He was born in the Teli caste in Gujarat".
"The community was given the tag of OBC in the year 2000 by the BJP. He was born in the general caste," he alleged.
'OBC-related political rhetoric gained momentum lately after PM Modi tried to expose the fault lines in the Congress.
In Lok Sabha, he said on Feb 5, "Can’t you (Congress) see the biggest OBC here?…." asks PM Modi to Congress.
"During the UPA Government, an extra-constitutional body was formed. The government could not have its way before that body. National Advisory Council - did it have any OBC members? Find out...".
Recently, the Modi regime also announced India's highest civilian award for Karpoori Thakur from Bihar -- who was in fact India's first Mandal messiah.
On Feb 7 in Rajya Sabha, during his address on Motion of Thanks to President's address, PM Modi compared Rahul as a 'start up' which has however remained a "non starter".
Modi also provided a glimpse into the BJP’s poll manifesto for 2024 by spelling out a long list of tasks for Modi Sarkar 3.0 including a promise of “zero electricity bill”.
***
“In the coming days, our focus will go beyond ‘ease of living’ to improving quality of life”.
*** In reference to the neo-middle class emerging out of poverty, PM said, “We will provide more strength to the ‘Modi Kavach’ of Social Justice".
Modi said in the next term, his government would introduce zero electricity bills for consumers through a switch to solar power.
Consumers will also have the option of selling the excess electricity coming from the rooftop solar units to the grid.
Other promises include ---
Transformation of the railways,
- Introduction of bullet trains
- Tap water connectivity to every poor household
- Expansion of the piped gas network
-- Hike in Research funding
--- Drones for the benefit of farmers and a flourishing digital economy.
**** India would see more Start-ups and one lakh unicorns even in
tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
-- Extensive use of AI, nano-fertilizers, green technologies and natural farming.
--- Millet will be established as the global super food.
**** The government is to make India a developed nation by 2047, when the nation will complete 100 years of Independence.
“Vikshit Bharat is not a word play, but it is our commitment,” the Prime Minister said.
Modi also reiterated his mantra of ‘states’ development for country’s development’, assuring that the Union government would support the development of all states.
Emphasising the importance of healthy competition for development among the states, the prime minister called for a competitive cooperative federalism.
Politics on White Paper - Indian Economy :::
"Economy in fragile state in 2014, economic mismanagement...it was crisis situation": Finance Ministry in White Paper tabled in Lok Sabha
'White Paper on the Indian Economy', tabled by FM Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha reads -
"The decade of the UPA government was a lost decade because it failed to capitalise on the strong foundational economy and pace of reforms left behind by the Vajpayee government. The potential of compounding growth never happened.
"Time and again, there was a crisis of leadership in the UPA government. It came out in full public glare in the shameful public tearing up of an ordinance issued by the government."
"The UPA government's decade of governance (or its absence) was marked by policy misadventures and scams such as non-transparent auction of public resources (coal and telecom spectrum), the spectre of retrospective taxation, unsustainable demand stimulus and ill-targeted subsidies and reckless lending by the banking sector with undertones of favouritism, etc.
"The 2G spectrum scam involving 122 telecom licenses that had sliced `1.76 lakh crore off the exchequer as per the estimates of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the coal gate scam costing Rs 1.86 lakh crore to the exchequer, the Common Wealth Games (CWG) scam, etc., indicated an environment of heightened political uncertainty and reflected poorly on India's image as an investment destination."
On 'White Paper' CPI MP Binoy Viswam says,
"I haven't seen the document yet...But I can presume that this White Paper is only white by name. All the data and figures it might have reflected is a gimmick with the numbers. Everybody knows that the management of finance by the NDA Government was bad.
It was supporting Nirav Modis and Mehul Choksis. They never tried to get back the money from foreign banks. Looters who cheated the banks and the people are still safe. BJP Govt is silent on such matters. If such a Government talks about 'White Paper', how can the country believe that?"
On 'White Paper', BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi says, "The country was pushed back 10 years due to financial mismanagement. They are speaking a lot of things today but they ruled for 50 years. Why did they not do anything?"
