Lone NDPP lawmaker from Nagaland Tokheho sounds like a 'bitter critic' of NDPP-BJP regime more than that of the Centre

(Past reference: Some of his friends were taken aback when Tokheho put up a few right questions in Lok Sabha vis-a-vis central funding for the Medical College. So even before reaching the bridge, he knows, he will find it difficult to cross it. )

“Whilst our neighbours make economic progress at blistering pace, we Nagas have stifled development on the pretext of Article 371 (A) and the political negotiations,” NDPP leader and Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi said.

“Whatever justification we give for the inability and incapacity to keep pace with development and economic growth with the rest of the country and world is because of the unresolved political issue and the use of money power in all walks of life,” the Lok Sabha MP's press statement as the new calendar year begins will not please his own party bosses and state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

This also possibly means - as was expected - Tokheho will not get his party (NDPP) ticket for the fast approaching Lok Sabha elections again. Not that there was any doubt about this, as apparently the NDPP if it contests - is likely to prefer a candidate from Wokha district. And if the NDPP wants to please BJP leadership including Himanta Biswa Sarma in the neighbourhood --- then the candidate could be anybody ... including a sitting legislator.

Twitter will go laughing or cracking ?

“The people of Nagaland have reposed faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for five consecutive elections, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2023. So much can only be done by one at the helm of a State which has very limited revenue and the mushrooming of more than twenty (20) Naga political factions,” the MP said.

Is he reminding these to the people of Nagaland or the media or the NDPP leadership itself ? A simple question no civic body can paradoxically afford to ask today is - "What did we achieve in last 20 years"?

Of course a flamboyant leader and smart operator Tokheho is, he blames New Delhi not finalisation of a solution pact even as two preliminary works were done in 2015 and in 2017.

“The intention of many in Delhi is delay the Naga Political issue for as long as possible to make arrangements for extraction of oil along the Assam Nagaland boundary. Very soon 64% of India’s oil production will come from North-Eastern States, of which Nagaland will not be a part of as the ongoing political negotiations has halted the exploration of oil in Nagaland,” he maintained.

Tokheho knows pretty well -- what does "...as long as possible" mean and who can benefit from these. It may be also pointed out that the row over Article 371 (A) was raised in April this year by NNPG leader N Ktovi Zhimomi.

"We Nagas have reached a critical stage of our history. Everyone wants a good future for our youths. But for MNC money we need permanent peace. And for permanent peace, there is need for Solution," Kitovi told this blogger.

He said if Solution does not come, people will be more frustrated. Kitovi, whose organisation has inked Agreed Position in 2017, has been proved prophetically correct.

Tokheho's lament is a telling symbol of frustration.

(even national media had highlighted the comments.

Tokheho plays mischief and also alleged that the present scenario in Delhi, as always, is to say yes to 'whatever Delhi dictates' and “thus, there will be no solution before 2024 May election.”

This could force NNPG leaders raise eyebrows. The NTC has been made 'defunct' or put in an inertia stage deliberately on technical grounds; otherwise the stage is set to launch a movement or at least organise a rally in Dimapur at the earliest.

The theme can be: 'Oh, Delhi, Do Deliver Solution... Stop trusting your men in Kohima, Guwahati and Delhi'.

One should always play the best card : Blogger

Slogan for a rally in 2022

In July 2023, certain questions were raised in this blog.

(How much Tokheho knows and what will he reveal?)

There is another context:

Some of his friends were taken aback when Tokheho put up a few right questions in Lok Sabha vis-a-vis central funding for the Medical College. So even before reaching the bridge, he knows, he will find it difficult to cross it.

The centre's response that Rs 171 crore was released in 2019 itself allegedly 'exposed' some skeletons of governance. Whether funds were diverted to escape the RBI embargo?
