"We don’t have to do much....Humey Zaida kucch karna ki jarurat nahi," says Defence Minister Rajnath ::: "PoK people will demand to be part of India".

The Pakistan government is irked and is at panic mode. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday summoned US Deputy Chief of Mission Andrew Schofer and handed over a demarche to him over the joint statement issued by the United States and India which called on Islamabad to take action against terrorists based in Pakistan.

In Jammu, India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Pakistan's illegal occupation of a part of Kashmir does not grant them any legitimacy in the region.

He asserted that the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) themselves will soon demand to be a part of India. “You are witnessing what is happening in the PoK now. We won’t have to do much. The tortured people of PoK will themselves demand to be a part of India," said Singh, also a former BJP president.

"They (Pok people) have been raising slogans about becoming a part of India,” he said.

Rajnath Singh was speaking at a National Security Conclave in Jammu. "Mere illegal occupation of PoK does not give Pakistan any locus standi there. Parliament has of India unanimously has passed at least three resolutions stating that PoK is a part of India".

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three-day state visit to the United States, a joint statement by India and the US was issued, condemning cross-border terrorism and urging Pakistan to take immediate action to prevent its controlled territory from being used for launching terrorist attacks.

The joint statement said, “The United States and India stand together to counter global terrorism and unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations. They (India and United States) strongly condemned cross-border terrorism, the use of terrorist proxies and called on Pakistan top take immediate action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for launching terrorist attacks".

The Pakistan Foreign Office said, “It was stressed that the United States should refrain from issuing statements that may be construed as an encouragement of India’s baseless and politically motivated narrative against Pakistan".

The Joint Statement by India and the US was also specific on certain areas which must have left authorities in Pakistan leaking their wounds.

"The United States and India stand together to counter global terrorism and unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations. Prime Minister Modi and President Biden reiterated the call for concerted action against all UN-listed terrorist groups including Al-Qa’ida, ISIS/Daesh, Lashkar e-Tayyiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizb-ul-Mujhahideen," the Joint Statement had said.

"They strongly condemned cross-border terrorism, the use of terrorist proxies and called on Pakistan to take immediate action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for launching terrorist attacks. They called for the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai and Pathankot attacks to be brought to justice".

"They noted with concern the increasing global use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones and information and communication technologies for terrorist purposes and reaffirmed the importance of working together to combat such misuse".
