From a lab-grown 7.5-carat green diamond, to a handcrafted sandalwood box — Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an array of special gifts to US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden when they hosted him for a private dinner at the White House on Tuesday.


The Prime Minister gifted the US President a sandalwood box meant to “symbolise” the rituals mentioned in the ancient Indian text Krishna Yajurveda’s ‘Vaikhanas Grihya Sutram’.

"I am a fan of Modi  - says Twitter boss Elon Musk

"I'm tentatively planning to visit India again next year," Twitter boss, Elon Musk said.


"I am looking forward. We're hopefully looking forward to bringing Starlink to India as well. The Starlink Internet, which I think can be incredibly helpful for remote or rural villages in India", he tweeted. 


Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had a "very good" conversation  and that the maker of electric vehicles will try to be in India "as soon as humanly possible". 


He said "I am a fan of Modi" and asserted that the Prime Minister “really wants to do the right thing for India.” Speaking to reporters after meeting Modi in New York, Musk said the Indian prime minister really cares about India and  he is pushing Tesla to make significant investments in the country.




“Which is something we tend to do. In a nutshell, it was a fantastic meeting with the prime minister,” Musk said.


“He wants to be open, he wants to be supportive of new companies and make sure it accrues to India's advantage. Which is, obviously, that's the job,” the billionaire investor added.

When asked about what he thinks of Modi's leadership for making technologies inclusive, Musk said, “He really wants to do the right thing for India. I am a fan of Modi. It was a fantastic meeting and I like him quite a lot.”

The Prime Minister also met experts from several leading US think-tanks, in New York, The PM and the experts discussed a range of developmental and geo-political issues.


Prime Minister invited them to enhance their presence in India as it embarks on its transformation during the Amritkaal. The various think-tank experts who participated in the interaction include:

Modi met Nobel laureate Prof Paul Romer, American economist




The Prime Minister met Nobel laureate Prof Paul Romer, American economist and policy entrepreneur.

Prime Minister and Prof. Romer held discussions on India’s digital journey, including the use of Aadhar and innovative tools like Digilocker. They also discussed various initiatives being undertaken by India for urban development.

"A stimulating exchange of views between PM  @narendramodi  & eminent economist and Nobel laureate Prof Paul Romer," tweeted MEA spokesman.
