Over to Owaisi and he finds faultlines in Opp. Unity: How is Uddhav secular, Was Nitish Kumar not an BJP ally? And Congress responsible for rise of Modi !

How is Uddhav Thackeray suddenly a secular -- who as Chief Minister had said he is proud of demolition of Babri Masjid?
Was Nitish Kumar not an BJP ally and became Chief Minister of Bihar more than once with BJP help?

"Is it not correct that because of the Congress, the BJP came to power twice," asks Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM.

He further said, "....is it not right to say that Nitish Kumar was Railway Minister when Godhra happened and he continued to be with the BJP during Gujarat genocide. Is it not a fact that he became Chief Minister because of alliance with the BJP. He left the BJP and formed Maha Gathbandhan, became the Chief Minister and then left them, he returned to the BJP and has now again left the BJP."

These were just glimpses of so-called candid talks vis-a-vis hyped claim on opposition unity and a grand declaration -- we will fight BJP together.  There are a few more crucial differences or causes of potential differences.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal charged the Congress with not opposing the ordinance brought by the Centre to control the 'authorities of powers' in Delhi and also negate the Supreme Court court verdict on control of services in the capital. The Congress argument was simple, the Patna meet was to discuss and debate national issues.

During the day the Congress tried to play safe saying a decision on Delhi Ordinance will be taken during the monsoon session of Parliament. It goes without stating that the Kejriwal-led outfit has grown in Delhi, Punjab and even Gujarat at the 'cost of Congress'. In other words the fear is the perceived and attempted Opposition Unity to take on BJP and Narendra Modi could weaken the grand old party further !!

Why Congress decision on opposing the Delhi Ordinance is crucial for Kejriwal?

The Delhi Chief Minister has been running from pillars to posts and trying hard to muster the support of non-NDA parties against the ordinance in the Rajya Sabha.

Sources say, senior Congress leaders have "hinted" that their party might abstain from voting on it in the Upper House. Paradoxically, the Congress's abstention from voting on this issue will help the BJP cause only.

Moreover, according to AAP insiders, the Congress units in Delhi and Punjab said that the grand old party should 'support the Modi government on this issue'.

The AIMIM chief also had said that Nitish Kumar did not even visit his constituency when communal riots took place and a 100-year-old madarsa was burnt but he invited leaders from across the country.

So how does thing move from here? The answer possibly lies in what Late Arun Jaitley had said in 2018.

"....Such a front with its contradictions, sooner or later, loses its balance and equilibrium.  Remembering 1996-98 as perhaps one of the worst period of governance, the aspirational India which today occupies the high table in the world shall never accept an idea which has repeatedly failed", the former Finance Minister had written.

He also maintained that the 2014 election "conclusively established" that in the New India chemistry will score  over arithmetic when it comes to deciding the country’s destiny.

There is always a lesson from history. Aspirational societies in a vibrant democracy
will always discard anarchy.

Future Tense:

What is at the end of the tunnel is not known to anyone. There are major contradictions.

In Uttar Pradesh, BSP led by Mayawati may not be part of any such bandwagon. The CPI-M and other Left parties in West Bengal will not join any front that has Mamata Banerjee as a chief protagonist.

"We talk about Opposition unity before every election but the major issue is that regional parties across India are born out of an anti-Congress DNA. Therefore, it is so simple when we see TDP and BJP trying to redraw their roadmaps," says an observer who understands the shenanigans of Andhra Pradesh politics very well.

Closer scrutiny of state-level politics and how the games could emerge in various constituencies, in at least 370 Lok Sabha constituencies, the so-called opposition unity is not required or cannot be implemented on ground.
