Biden says he is 'disappointed' that Xi Jinping will miss G20 Delhi Summit :::::: Making of a Global star Namo amid cautious optimism

('New York Times' says Beijing would not explain the apparent decision to forgo the event.

Notably. Jinping has never missed the annual Group of 20 gathering since taking power in 2012. The paper also says the Beijing move deals a blow to India, the event’s host nation, and raised 'questions about Mr. Xi’s profile as a global statesman'.)

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Monday, Sept 4, that Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi. The hyped Modi-hosted mega event will miss a major star in the new and emerging world certainly.

In what is seen as the most telling and conspicuous absence from the Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping is giving the occasion a miss. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not arrive too and he would be represented by his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.  Well, the importance of being Xi Jinping matters!

US President Joe Biden said he is disappointed that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will not be attending the summit.

“I am disappointed, but I am going to get to see him," Biden said. The American President is likely to meet Xi Jinping in San Francisco later this year at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum meeting.

The G20 Summit will be held in New Delhi from September 9 (Saturday) to September 10 (Sunday). World key global US President Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will attend the event, two members of BRICS and RIC (Russia and China will be represented by two presidents' nominees)

Biden will arrive India on September 7 (Thursday) and will a crucial bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8. Of course, Modi is in between also traveling to Indonesia for the ASEAN-India and East Asia Summits.

"Given that Mr. Xi would be missing an opportunity to meet with President Biden on the sidelines of the summit, the move might suggest that Mr. Xi wants to ease tensions with the United States on his own terms," says 'New York Times'

IG20 : Making of a Global star Namo: India at crossroads but optimism prevails even among hardcore Modi-bashers

"...the BJP is bound to encash the newly created fervour for Modi after the September summit".

- columnist Neerja Chowdhury wrote in December 2022.

India maybe at crossroads and so are other global players including the US but 'optimism' prevails even among hardcore Modi-bashers.

Stage is set. Modi will be there all along from the front anchoring the mega G20 Show -- perhaps the mother of all 'shows' in the sub-continent in the last decade if not last few decades !!

"The Summit will add to an already larger-than-life image of the PM who will be leading from the front, hosting world leaders from powerful nations, including the US, China, Russia, France, the UK, France and Germany." -- Indian Express

The decline of the Congress party in 2014 started all that. The BJP won a simple majority of its own and Narendra Modi emerged in the horizon as a catalyst of development. But all through nine years, he has hardly got breather. He was put to test one after another --- one poll after another; one allegation after another.

But Modi has ensured one thing much to the chagrin of its detractors and especially parties like the Congress and Trinamool Congress and the ecosystem. He and his Team Modi has ensured that today the BJP has succeeded in filling the gap/vacuum in national politics created by the exit of the Congress party.

Today, September 2023, the world and the country could be at the edge of a new era. PM Modi has set a target for 2047 -- something done rarely in Indian context by the political stars. His reform path is now explicit. The 'One Nation, One Election' need not be a very good slogan; but electoral reforms are the key to all reform strategies in India.

Everything else will fall in line. India faces a critical choice anew on many fronts. Will Indians embrace the immense opportunities? Modi says 'yes' people would. But this is also a country where prophets of doom rule the roost. This is a country when a Covid Vaccine is manufactured, either they call it 'Modi/BJP vaccine' or there is nothing new it could be some liquid !

This is a country where 'corruption' can be legitmised if suits oneself or one's kith and kin.

Hence what does Namo resemble today? The Modi-bashers have come out with their phrase - 'One Nation, One tension - Modi'. But in reality to millions does Narendra Modi  reflect a beacon of hope? Will he make India march on or will we turn inward again?

The G-20 is hence crucial to the BJP’s plans in the run-up to the parliamentary elections. But will he change things beyond our imagination? The Summit will provide the party with an opportunity to project India’s rising global stature as a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy and reinforce its role as “Vishwa Guru (world leader)” and “Vishwa Mitra (a friend of the world)”.

But what could be unfolded once Parliament of India meets?

International media:

United Kingdom’s Telegraph newspaper in a recent article stated that India which was mired by fractious politics has undergone great political stability under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has allowed for legal reforms, improvements to basic welfare systems, and a vast upgrading of the country’s infrastructure. In his September 2 article in the newsdaily, author Ben Wright writes that India holds potential and also some problems, but under the leadership of PM Modi, India definitely holds the bold targets, it aims to achieve.

The author has pointed out that with the success of Chandrayaan-3, India became only the fourth (and third extant) country to achieve a “soft” landing on the Moon, following the US, the Soviet Union, and China.

The fact that Russia’s attempt to land in the same previously unexplored region had ended in ignominious failure a few days earlier further accentuated the achievement, which, rather deliciously, coincided with the BRICS international relations summit in Johannesburg.

India’s successful lunar mission was met by wild celebrations across the subcontinent and was hailed as “another one of the many straws in the wind,” illustrating the country’s ascendancy, according to Ray Dalio, American billionaire investor.

To wrap up, at times in life and in the lifespan of a nation, the choices we make as individuals and as a nation make all the difference.

There are some people who stick to the status quo. There are others who embrace
the future with all excitement, changes and challenges.

As a great nation, we have crossed 75 long years as an independent and modern entity in every sense.

Now we are matured enough to make up our mind and select the road map.
