Pakistan is a "too small fry' !! Modi's challenge is now America and more specifically Trumpism
Importantly, there is no Islamic arc of support to Pakistan which is the narrative they try to peddle !!
::: Washington ought to be given strong signals
America and Team Trump need to be shown the right place ....
"Do not use India for image makeover .... Friends do not abuse friends"
What irritates Indian leadership the most is the casual 'firangi (western)' approach to put New Delhi in bracket with Islamabad.
Narendra Modi is no Shehbaz Sharif. Americans know it ... but Donald Trump deliberately played the nasty game. His posting on social media was most unbecoming of a global leader.
President of US is not an event management company !!
India -- irrespective of whichever party in power - has long resisted third-party mediation on Kashmir or Pakistan-related conflicts.
Trumpism has undone all that good efforts. This not only calls for quick introspection.
This calls for a right message in the same coin.
Even towering national heroes have their 'weak moments'. The social media posting from Trump exposed the 'weak' links in New Delhi-Washington ties.
The western media perhaps was asked to frame a story that the truce was a product or by-product of Trump's diplomatic success.
New Delhi has countered all that on Sunday (May 11th) ... but the damage was done in the last 24 hours. PM Narendra Modi has huge 'political capital' vis-a-vis people's support and he will soon get back the rhythm.
Air Marshal A K Bharti did plain speaking at the media briefing.
"Have we achieved our objectives of decimating the terrorist camps, and the answer is a thumping Yes and the results are for the whole world to see.
All I can say is that we have achieved our objectives that we selected and all our pilots are back home," the Air Marshal said during the tri-services briefing.
Prior to him, sources in the know of things gave powerful messages.
#India snubs Trump. At least on Kashmir, and so rightly and politely.
"..... We do not want anyone to mediate," - the source said also adding - "There is only one matter left (while ding the talks with Pakistan) that is the return of PoK"
These are the right kinds of messages.
The sources also said: - "Kinetic measures are options we will exercise if Pakistan makes any moves to send drones or missiles or any other form of aggression".
In other words -- damn with your advice !!
Of course among other key messages from the Govt, one important take away was India was able to call Pakistan's nuclear deterrent bluff. India carried out the attack and went deep inside "their hearts".
A real test of 'Ghus ke maarenge ...
New Delhi has also made it while the DGMO level talks will happen on May 12 (Monday); New Delhi is firm that there will not be any talks with Pakistan on Kashmir.
Moreover, the Indus Water Treaty will stay in abeyance.
"The DGMO-level talks have to go forward. Operation Sindoor is still on," said the sources and this was a clearer snub to J D Vance -- who can probably think of sending a personal apology letter to PM Narendra Modi.
Indian authorities also say - "The non-Kinetic measures stay in place. Kinetic measures (hard-hitting) are options we will exercise if Pakistan makes any moves to send drones or missiles or any other form of aggression".
It is also being stated that Pakistan violated the preamble of the Indus Treaty, which says it is being done with goodwill and good neighbourliness.
Meanwhile, sources also said:
"We had many interactions with diplomats and representatives from many countries. We did not see anyone encouraging Pakistan.
Even the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with whom we don’t normally engage, we reached out to some friendly countries and their statements came out only after a few days. It wasn’t their usual kind. There was a churning in the group; Pakistan was put to a lot of grief because support from them did not come their way.
They try to make it seem like the entire Islamic world is in their corner. That wasn’t the case. The Saudis were very empathetic to India"
